Shark Speed-R Helmet - Solid Colors SHARK is proud to present a new philosophy. Utilizing all SHARKs expertise in safety, innovation and function the SPEED-R is a helmet specifically designed to meet the passionate demands of un-faired motorcycle riders. Double blade air spoiler positioned at the rear of the Speed-R, it allows the air to flow above and below the blade, hence the dual venturi effect to extract warm air from the helmet. Spoiler/stabilizer at its rear base trim the Speed-R has a spoiler, which stabilizes the helmet and the cancels the buffering effect. The immediate benefit is no air turbulence running inside the helmet and greater stability at a steady speed. Features Latest generation composite long fibre construction Integrated, drop down sun visor Extensive wind-tunnel testing to perfect aerodynamics and ventilation system for use with naked road bikes Double cavity rear spoiler creates faster air circulation to drastically reduce fogging Rear deflector stabilizer reduces helmet buffeting Faceshield varies in thickness and is optically correct, scratch resistant and anti-fog coated Completely remove and washable COOLMAX lining Shark Easy Fit glasses system offers wearers a comfort lining which has a pre-tted system to accommodate all types of glasses ECE 2205 and DOT approved Two shell sizes

Excellent helmet. I'd recommend it AND buy another.
4/5 value because it isn't cheap so its not "a steal", but its definitely worth the money.
Definitely rounder than a Shoei RF-1100 if you're familiar with that helmet's fit, but true to size.
Shields great, like HD, no joke.
The adjustable tensioner seems to feel good, may loosen over time so I'll watch it.
The shield has no closed lock, but feels very securely closed with just the button detent on it.
I'd like a crack notch in the shield for stop and go/city venting, like on the Shoei, but with infinitely adjustable positions of the shield tensioner mechanism and the extensive coverage of the internal sun visor I suppose in traffic one can crack the shield and ride slowly enough to not have the visor ripped open by wind and still vent, and or ride with the visor up and the sunshield down again negating the need for a crack notch.
Shield change is easy and the thickness of the shield is impressive, the clarity is awe inspiring.
Seems to vent well. Just rode in 95* NYC weather (humid) with only the top vent open and the helmet pulling fresh air from under the chin the breeze was palpable. The chin vent was closed though I didn't realize it.
In the NE w/ constantly changing weather I find the sun visor feature a necessity and this one works very well, firm solid, balanced feel to the slider mechanism.
The D-Ring buckle is welcomed and because of the firm webbing used very easy to manipulate with gloves on, its firm but not hard or annoying.
Complimentary chin curtain is great to have without having to pay extra
Great field of view. Might not be the largest view port available but certainly not the smallest. Without the use of mirrors over shoulder checks are easily accomplished without driving the chin bar into the shoulder of my armored riding jacket. Looking directly behind is easy with almost no need to tweak the head as peripheral vision remains largely unencumbered.
No whistling noticed so at least average noise reduction and no annoying nuance sounds noticed at all.
For all of the features and protection this helmet provides it's surprisingly light and well balanced, its neutrally weighted once on the head and extremely comfortable for that reason.
This helmet would be a Grand Slam with 1 or 2 extra features; The shield lock (I don't race so for me it'd be "just cause" but it may annoy some)
and a City/Traffic crack notch/lock that can hold the shield locked in a slightly opened position.
Also if it fit more like it was made specifically for my head... but thats an unreasonable request I know. This helmets slightly rounder than I'd like. Its got room on the sides of the crown where the front and back of my head are spot on. It's comfortable, but just not 100% to me.
I'd give this helmet a strong 8 possibly a 9 out of 10
Yes, I recommend this product.
