RhodeHazard's Reviews

Long lasting dual compound sole Gaerne uses a special custom made rubber compound sole that will outlast any of the competition. Adjustable aluminum buckles The SG10 incorporates the use of buckles that can be moved on the two top positions. This boot fit will accommodate almost any size rider. Hinged calf ankle support Protection + support confidence. When you feel how fast the SG10 breaks in and feel the support it provides, you will be a believer. Gel padded interior No need for a bootie, they add weight. The gel padding actually conforms to the rider's foot and takes up any slop. Try this boot on and you will never go back.

Footbed
Narrow
Wide
Wide
With all the talk about Gaerne's sizing differences compared to other manufacturers, I was unclear as to which size would fit my feet. With a half sized wide foot I was getting advice from some to go up a half size and and others to go down a half size, but all were correct to state that the Gaerne SG10 will handle a wide foot. I ordered both the size 10 and the size 11 for my 10-1/2 EEE feet. The 10 was long enough for my toes to move in the toe box, but fit too snug in the width to allow for thicker socks. The 11 was comfortably wide enough for my feet even with thicker socks or my klim covert goretex liner system and also had ample room in the toe box for moving my toes. As my riding style is more along the adventure off road than MX racing or enduro I chose the larger 11 for the comfort.
On another note, I have had a few MX style boots and these are by far the most comfortable out of the box boots I have worn. The buckles are buttery smooth to operate and will not remove hunks of finger when taking your boots off at the end of the day.
I will post another review after I have put a few miles and dings in them.

Fit

Slightly Small
Large
I purchased these to be used as a thermal mid layer between street clothes and a motorcycle riding outer layer.
These run slightly tight so I would recommend going two sizes up if you intend to wear them over another pair of pants. I have a 38 in waist and am wearing an XXL in these to fit over my jeans. The material in the pant stretches so this size fits me well as a base layer also.
The material is a high tech fabric that is thin enough to not bulk, but insulating and breathable enough to make a big difference.

The ride started with a nip in the air. Thirty miles later it is sunny and warm. Like a chameleon, the Dakar Pant, with its controlled ventilation chassis, changes to meet the demands of any condition with little adjustment. The Dakar can adapt with the help of 20 inch mesh-lined zippered thigh vents and a mesh-lined rear leg vent. Adaptation does not come at the cost of performance and durability. The Dakar Pant is built with TNP heat and abrasion- resistant leather panels on the inner legs, Cordura fabric for strength and highly reinforced knees and seat. Be ready to take the lead no matter the condition with the Dakar Pant. This gear was purchased for long distance adventure off road travel.
Craftsmanship and design is outstanding. Material is very substantial and abrasion resistant as well as comfortable for long rides.
Fit provides flexibility in crotch, hips and knees and sizing runs true.
Venting design on front of thighs is easy to open and close on the fly, provide much needed ventilation in hot weather and a good seal when it is cold.
Cargo pockets are only large enough to fit a paperback book into and do not bellow, but close securely include a leashed hook in right pocket. Sadly there are only the two cargo pockets for keeping your stuff.
Waist cinching happens with velcro pull tabs on either side of hip allowing for secure fit adjustment on the fly.
Knee and hip armor are not as substantial as I had imagined they would be for off-road gear, but do not hinder flexibility and are removable so you can easily replace them if you are an animal.
The lower and inner pant legs are heat resistant leather and grippy and have a wide and adjustable velcro closure that can be adjusted tight or loose on the fly as well.
Overall I am very happy with the Klim Dakar Pants. The price is worth the kit.

Is this just a shell or does a liner come with it?

Is this only the gortex and we need to purchase base and/or mid layer or does it come with a liner?
I have the Klim Latitude Pants and they are a shell only. If you order up on size, you will have the flexibility of adding base and mid layers to increase your riding season.

the heated glove that you conect to the bike battery can olso work on a rechargeble battery ?

i like to use the glove on the bike while driving and olso while i am using my snow blower for a few hours?
If your snow blower uses a 12 volt battery and it can support both the heating element supply needs of the gloves as well as the normal needs of the snowblower, there is no reason why it should not work, at least until the battery is depleted.

They make it, but you son't show it.
The light grey Klim Dakar pant is shown in the available colors. You may want to try "Shop for Brands" then "Klim" and then select the Dakar pant.
