RevZilla's Opinion of the The Bell Vortex Helmet The Bell Vortex Helmet has grown to be one of the top selling and more ubiquitous 200 sport helmets in the RevZilla family. The light weight, Snell Rating and ability to use the Bell Photochromic shield allow the Bell Vortex Helmet to cover a lot of the bases the typical sport or track day rider is looking for in a reasonably priced helmet. Many times we see this type of functionality only available in helmets over the 300 mark. In the 3/4 or tuck position the Bell Vortex Helmet will provide a great solution in just about any spirited or sport riding scenario. If you find a graphic or color that suits your taste and you have an intermediate oval head shape, the Bell Vortex is a great option.

This is my most used helmet, and I have some expensive ones. The Matte finish looks great, the shield is clear, it flows plenty of air, is super comfortable, and the magnetic strap retainer works awesome. This is about the only helmet I can put on with my winter gloves on no problem. The only gripe I have with it is the wind noise going down the road. Now, I'm on a naked Buell Ulysses, no windshield, so the wind blast is full. Doesn't seem as bad when you tilt your head to one side, so I wonder how much NVH wind tunnel testing Bell did to smooth out this problem. Get rid of the clear shield, the dark smoke makes this helmet look totally different, and light smoke at night is perfect.

Head shape on this lid?
Just wondering what head shape this helmet fits. I'm looking for a replacement for my Shark RSR2 (Medium) and was interested in the Bell Star 2010 (carbon). I've tried my friend's 2009 model and in medium it's WAYYyyyy too loose. I was told the 2010 fitting has been corrected... just need info on the head fit (hopefully it'll be as tight as my RSR2).
The Helmet has a medium oval head shape. Part of the problems with these helmets, Bell as a whole, is that the cheek pads compress so much that when you buy it as a medium new, the pads compress and make it fit like a large. However, the helmets are so nice and reasonably priced its orth it to buy bigger cheek pads when yours get too compressed. Throwing them in the washer and dryer seems to bring them back to life somewhat too.
