Great styling, excellent materials, what else is there?
I bought the perf version, and mine has the cool red collar (black/red/white). It vents air very well. I initially wanted to use it 3-season (Spring, Summer, Fall), but I love it so much, that I wanted to use it during the winter too. So I add a liner, either Gore-tex Performance Shell or a windproof-only one (Windstopper-like), and a down jacket with a thin base layer, and voila, 4-season functionality.
I lost a little weight, wasn't fat to begin with, so now it's about one size too large. But that makes it perfect for layering, bonus!
I have a 42" chest now, but I bought a size 56. It's a bit large, a bit squarish. I probably should be in a 54 but if I wanted a tighter fit maybe a 52. Revzilla(?) says that the 56, 58, and 60 are a more comfortable cut, i.e. beer-belly? Maybe the smaller sizes are more athletic?
I use the thorax pocket as a general pocket. I wish it had a chest pocket. I'm buying a Wave back protecter, but I can't comment on that yet.
I use an Arai XD-3 helmet, but when I do a traffic check, I bang the shoulder area and it limits my view. Either the helmet is too long, or the exposed armor plates are too large, or both. Slight nick for that. It's probably the helmet I chose. The exposed aluminum skid plates are just my style.
Overall, a great jacket. Highly recommended.
The Avro also suits my style. Check it out too.

Let's just come out with it, I like socks. I wear socks all the time, I never go barefoot. I like bags and shoes too, maybe I should have been female... Huh.
The socks are very technical, which I do prefer, but they are way too tall. I mean, why do they go over the knee? If you pull them all the way up, they cut into your lower thigh, if you roll them down, now you have two layers just under your knee. I don't understand.
I then tried the identical mid sock, but it doesn't even come to the top of my boot, and that feels funny.
So what I ride with is my Smartwool ski socks. Perfect. I prefer the thin PhD ones. Padding in all the right places, warm or cool weather, breathable, tough, just the right height. Perfect.
Sorry to say, but these just sit in my drawer looking nice. They had the potential but have the wrong height.

I've ridden these pants for 3k+ miles now and they are just excellent. On the bike, I forget they are there, but I still know I have outstanding protection. I've ridden them from 35-95 degrees, 35-55 I do wear a thin base layer, and they just work. I usually ride them inside my Dainese Torque Out's, but they adjust to being outside too. I do wish they had 2 more belt loops in the front, where they fasten, because a belt rides up and over the top of the pants, so they sag in the front, and I keep pulling up my pants. Kinda weird that they are missing loops in that normal spot. They could also have a bit of color to them, maybe to match the Alien jacket?
Yes, I recommend this product.

Materials and multi-sport functionality

Hello:

1. Gore-Tex makes different membranes, is this jacket's liner made of Gore-Tex Pro?
2. What is the insulation of the thermal liner, Primaloft? Dainese doesn't give the details.
3. As the armor is removable, what is your opinion on it's functionality to serve a multi-purpose, multi-sport role? i.e., could you use it as a shell to ski/snowboard, or hike in it? I know the external shoulder armor would look excessive, but IMHO, is a small price to pay for the extra use. Thoughts?

Thanks!

will these boots fit inside the alian pants?

I would say yes. With my Alien pants I usually wear them inside the boot, Torque RS, but I have worn them outside the boot as well for a more low-key style. The Alien pants have an expansion zipper that opens to allow going over boots.

Color of the collar??

Hi,
I want to order a Dainese Alien jacket (perf) from you, but I have just fund out two different verions of Alien jacket red. The collar part is different, one is red, but the other one is black.. Are they both genuine?? Which version do you sell? thanks.

Best Regards

Ming
I guess I was an early adopter as I bought mine Fall 2011 and it has the red collar.
