There's no intercom VOX, I assume you tap the jog dial to open a connection?

Yes, tap to initiate a conversation. It does support vox to answer phone calls.

How many headsets can the SMH5 connect to?

I understand that the 5 can connect to the 10, but I read somewhere that the SMH5 is for the single rider. No where in the description did it say that it has the capability to connect to other Sena headsets (SMH10 or SMH5). I'm just wondering if this is a good buy. A few friends of mine and I considering purchasing, but its not worth the money if it only connects to one other headset or none at all.
The SMH-5 will pair to the -10 just fine, and you can pair up to three friends. However, you can only talk to one person at a time, it does not support a three-way conversation like the -10. You tap the button to start a conversation.
