Will it fit away in a backpack?

Basically I'm new at riding bikes, I just got a Suzuki dr200 for my first 'car' I guess you could say, and I'm not going to cut any corners when it comes to safety. Ill be using by bike for transportation to work and just for solo transportation in general, and wanted to know if I just wore this on my way to work or anywhere, would it be able to fit in a backpack I could take with me? I sure as ____ wouldn't leave it in any tail pack or top case... If not what are other chest/back protectors that would be good for daily commuter use, I just don't want to buy a jacket, I have jackets, I need the protection. Thanks a lot.
