It works as advertised. I usually wear very dark safety glasses when I ride on a sunny day. With this visor, I can wear clear safety glasses (I raise my visor when I'm below 35 mph and I never ride naked). This is a big plus as I don't have to stop and change glasses as it gets darker or cloudy. Also, it is easier for me to see my LCD info screen and GPS in changing sunlight without the dark glasses. I'll buy another when this one is too scratched (hope it's cheaper then).
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great helmet. I've had a visor on my helmets for years -- eyes sensitive to sunlight, especially in early morning or late afternoon. The Arai visor works quite well. Very aerodynamic. I can cruise at 90 and do head checks with no problem. The wide visor opening is another plus. My other helmet is a **** and you can really notice the advantage the Arai has when you do a head check. The helmet would be perfect if Arai offered a shield that darkened in sunlight (hint, hint).

The same size REV'IT Nitric jacket fits over the same size REV'IT Dragon jacket. I was a bit worried about that, but the fit is perfect, no binding, no snug spots. A bit bulky under the chin, but workable. I wore it on a rainy day, but only got road spray, so I can't say how good it will be in heavy rain. If the fabric is as waterproof as it seems, it should work fine. Good quality, even with the goofy left-handed zipper (what is with those people at REV'IT?).

This review is for the white version only. Very strong boot, excellent toe, ankle and heel protection. It's been a hot summer and I've been riding in jeans and work boots. The work boots offer marginal protection even for casual off-roading. The Tech 2s take care of that problem. The toe box is stiff and roomy enough for thick socks. You loose some feel, but up-shifts are more positive because the toe box doesn't give. The boots (white) are vented with a 5/8" metal mesh covered hole and three smaller holes near the larger. Don't step in water deeper than 2" or the boots will fill. You may be able to make them somewhat water resistant with duct tape over the vents. Also, improved reach to the ground because of the cut-away on the rear of the boots (big deal for R1200GS owners). Obviously, this boot will not protect shins from contact with the pegs. Only gripe: poor traction on wet grass and damp soil -- not much of a tread pattern on the sole.

Well made pant, should last for quite a while. Fairly easy on and off. Haven't been able to test their rain resistance yet; very little rain so far. The fit is odd. I have an older pair of REV'IT Sand Pants in 2XL that fit fine, but 2XL in the Axis Pant wouldn't pull up past my knees over jeans (38x30). The 3XLs fit okay, but it makes you wonder how they come up with these sizes. 'Zilla customer service is very good. Talk to them about sizing before you order.

I was hoping to use the Detecto 7000 on the rear disk. The key area of this lock is about 1/16" too large to do the deed. Since my bike has a steering lock, I felt a lock for the rear disk would be just about right for minimal security. Not gonna happen with this lock.
As for the lock itself: The alarm is not very loud. Outdoors it's barely noticeable as an alarm, and it only stays on for 15 seconds. I'm not going to get into how difficult the lock may be to remove. I'm a Toolmaker and cutting metal is my business. I'm not going to give out any hints.
It may keep an inexperienced thief or nosy vandal from messing with your bike, but I would not rely on it alone.

AltRider BMW R1200GS Side Stand Foot Your big BMW engine commands respect off road and on, but you can help it retain that dignity by providing it with a side stand foot that reflects its size. It's made out of stainless steel, it's easy to install, and it works. I live out in the country, just about everywhere I park is on some kind of dirt or gravel. I no longer have to look for rocks or other debris to set the stand on. I'm happy.

A comfortable and light fit. Picks up a bit more wind noise than I like, but not objectionable, Sheds rain well. The one shortcoming that I have found is that I would like a stronger detente for the visor in the up position. When you hit 40-45 mph the visor will automatically go to close or half-close. On a cool, humid morning, when things fog up easily on a twisty, country road, I had to hold the visor open with my left hand until the sun rose enough to warm things up. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Will an Arai XD3 fit me?

Checking out the stock at bike shops, I have found only two helmets that fit: A Shoei Multitech, and an Arai Quantum II, both helmets in medium. I have not found a XD3 in medium to make sure of the fit. Can you shed some light on this?

Will this fit the Bell Revolver?

The Bell Photo chromatic Shield will fit the Bell Revolver. It can be a little fussy in the attachment phase, but it will fit just fine if you are patient. I don't know why this is, for the original shield will pop on and off in seconds. There must be some minor variation in the detents on the shield that make this more difficult than it has to be.

SR Sole The Sidi SR, or sole replacement system, sole is the markets only sole fully replaceable via a standard screw driver and the SR quarter turn screws. This patented sole replacement system has the extra technical feature of being able to better distribute loads from the footpeg fully across the sole. While the SR sole has a stiffer feel than the TA sole (or other companies sewn on soles) it has the added benefit of presenting a smaller footprint than traditional sewn on soles thus offering less of a target during on track encounters or hidden stumps in the brush. Dual Flex System Allows for easy movement forward and backward but is extremely strong side to side giving the rider the finest in ankle protection and long lasting comfort. The hinged, dual position, stitch-free upper is constructed from injection-molded plastic. With the exclusive Dual Flex system and the four floating, independent straps the Crossfire can provide each rider with a personal fit no matter his body shape or if he uses knee braces or not. Adjustable Calf System Sidis exclusive, patented, adjustable calf system allows the rider to adjust the diameter of the Crossfire boot at the calf. This system, along with longer upper straps, allows the Crossfire boot to accommodate riders with larger calves easier than any other boot now available. The Crossfire can accommodate riders with up to a 22-inch calf diameter 14 inches above from the bottom of their heel. The inner plastic plate is made of two different materials a rigid one to support the boot and a heat resistant one to protect the riders leg from exhaust heat. All components of this system are fully replaceable and are available in a wide variety of colors. Heel Detail Three extended ribs are featured at the back of the boot to assist the rider in making upshifts with his heel when starting a race. Rigid, shock resistant, anatomically shaped heel for maximum protection. Non-Bootie Designs Sidi boots do not incorporate inner booties into their design, and for good reason. Booties make the design larger and cumbersome add to the boots thickness, which interferes with shifting, plus the inner booties retain body heat affecting the riders performance and comfort. Buckles Sidis exclusive cam-lock buckle system is acknowledged as the finest system on the planet. It must be as most of Sidis competitors have attempted to copy various aspects of it. The cam-lock buckle system incorporates a strap memory retention system. Adjust the straps once and they will be at the same position for every ride after that! Toe Areas The tip of the toe on the Crossfire boots are covered with plastic to protect the base material and seems against abrasion from brush etc. Plastic shift and brake lever guards on the top of each foot area. Heat Shields Each Sidi boot is equipped with an anti-heat undressed leather protection panel at the same height of most motorcycles exhaust heat shields. Composite Insole A cushioned liner is provided that can be removed if the rider desires a more roomy fit. Sidi does not use steel shanks riveted to its insole like most manufactures, details such as this enable Sidi boots to enjoy a multi year service life versus the competitors multi month lifespan as over time, a steel shank can deteriorate, rust and fracture exposing the rider to injury. Lorica Outer is fully constructed with Lorica a composite micro fiber material created from strands less than one thousandth the thickness of silk. When injected with special resins, these fibers act like natural leather skin, but with the addition of better strength, softer texture, lighter weight and better moisture protection. Lining Cambrelle is a lining that, due to its particular polyimide structure, guarantees a rapid drying rate after the boot gets wet or sweaty. This prevents the onset of mold forming which extends the boots lifespan dramatically. The Teflon treated mesh panels in the rear calf area of the boot allow humidity to escape while the boot is in use.

Wher can I order or see the different soles that are available for this boot?

The soles are like their motocross racing boot. Not a great deal of traction in anything other than dry conditions. If you find yourself in a enduro-type mud bog, you will have a hard time walking out.

Schuberth C3 Helmet - Is it really good for BWM 2012 K1600GT?

I'm looking to buy a couple of these helmets. Most reviews say that these helmets are awesome. In fact BMW recommends this as their preferred helmet.

But I am hearing feedback from owners on forums that this is the loudest helmet they have ever worn. Reading posts for hours I believe that the problem is the that the BMW has a fairing. This faring causes eddie currents to stream by the helmet and hit at angles causing extreme helmet noise. The proof was also interesting in that if on that same BMW you stood up on the front foot pegs while riding, the helmet now on straight in the air went nearly silent.

So my question is this?

What are my alternatives, or will all like helmets suffer the same fate on this bike.

Lastly, BMW makes their own helmet, also manufactured by Schumerth and sold as the "BMW System 6 Helmet". This is not for sale in America but can be ordered from England or Canada and shipped here.

I've got an awesome bike in the K1600 but I need a helmet that works. Any recommendations?

Thank you!
In general, on a full face helmet, noise can be partially controlled by the neck roll density of the helmet. This goes for engine and wind noise. Some helmets are doomed to be noisy, but others can be adjusted by pushing up or down on the chin bar. When you push up, the neck roll may compress more and make the helmet quieter.
Also, if you are going to do any lengthy highway riding, earplugs are a wise option. I recommend the foam type. 3M Classic (yellow) are comfortable and can be worn all day. Buy a 200 count box and you are set for a long, long time.

My Shield won't stay Up anymore

helmet is about 6 month old, at some moment i realized that shield not staying UP anymore, all parts in place, I have three different shields, all same, falling down and it's very frustrating since can't find any reason for that so can't fix that, is anyone have same problem fixed?
If you have a windshield you may be able to adjust the airflow so it hits the helmet just above the face opening. This can keep the shield open. However, it will snap down when you do a head check. You will find different brands of helmets have better or worse shield detents. My Arai is weak, my Bell is strong when it comes to shield detents.

Didn't get an answer to my question, so I bought a XD3 (Snell 2005) anyway. It's a snug fit, I needed to change the cheek pads to 20mm from the 25mm supplied. The fit is now acceptable. I wish the "D" ring strap was 2 inches longer, but this seems fairly standard. GregH
