Yes, this modular is quieter and lighter than the Shoei Multitec the C3 replaced for me. However, instead of getting a clear upgrade or a significant step up in a helmet, it is more of a trade off in pros and cons.
The unique collar definitely makes it quieter which is nice but it does not lower the volume by leaps and bounds. If you are sensitive to tinitus in your ears from long rides, ear plugs are still needed. To get the benefit of the lower noise collar, you must have the face shield in the snap, locked position. Also, you cannot use the front vent. If you open the front vent, the added noise is considerable.
The face shield is very difficult to snap, lock down with one hand while riding using the face shield finger tabs. I consider this a design flaw because sometimes you need to use the shield for quick venting but then want to lock it down to get the noise reduction once traffic speeds up. I have to touch the front of the shield with my glove to get it to lock which can leave smudges in my field of view. Another flaw, in my opinion, is the ratcheting resistence of the shield. Somtimes it is nice to have the shield open one notch (this is one notch above the "city" position noted in the manual so technically this would be position 3). However, wind resistence at about 50 MPH pushes the shield shut. Should be able to ride at least 60 before this happens.
One reason you're going to be using the shield for venting is because the collar creating the seal that makes it quieter unfortunately also increases the temperature inside the helmet on a sunny day. The top vent is very efficient. The front vent does little for comfort and mostly adds a lot of noise. I would say this helmet is less useful for west coast riding applications because of this.
The built in sun visor is a neat innovation. The ability to deploy or retract quickly and safely is very handy when riding under very shady canopies like in the redwoods or going through tunnels. The drawback is you can't go as fast with the face shield up and sun visor down as you can if you were wearing sunglasses. The space between the visor and your face results in uncomfortable turbulence around your eyes at speeds over 30 MPH. Somtimes it is nice to have the face shield wide open when riding country roads at medium speeds so you can smell and feel the air. The manual says not to use sunglasses and the interior lining doesn't seem designed for it. However, I will probably pinch in some sunglasses and not use the built in sun visor for some of my favorite local country rides.
The compact shell (at least for larges and smaller) is nice. It is definitely lighter and presents a smaller profile than my old Shoei. I definitely appreciate that. The fit is snug and I do have a couple of tiny pressure points that I am praying get worked out with more use.
Because of the the noise reduction collar, you have to use the pinlock system, otherwise you are going to fog like crazy. If you don't like the little light distortions that come with a pinlock, you probably shouldn't get this helmet because it is pretty much required.
Finally, I love the chin strap. Can't imagine ever using D-rings again.
Overall I would recommend this highly technical helmet. It seems designed for very specific applications and scenarios like cooler weather and sustained high speeds with the face shield down and locked most of the ride. If you want to have the shield up to experience your environment more on a country ride, you'll have difficulty finding that comfortable sweet spot.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Comfortable fit and easy to put on and take off. Haven't experienced severe weather in them yet so can't speak to other reviewer's complaints about water intrusion.

My hand size was between 8.5 and 9 so I went with the large. The fingers were too long so I did an exchange (thank you Revzilla). The medium gloves were slightly snug at first but quickly stretched and conformed to my hand after a few rides. Good warm weather gloves. The knuckle guard does not pinch like some other gloves.
Yes, I recommend this product.
