Lycra and mesh base construction. Ventilated foam padding on hip, thigh and tailbone areas. Hard PU inserts reinforce the thigh and tailbone areas for additional impact and abrasion resistance.

Being that I'm a relatively new rider, protection means a great deal to me. I was in the market for a good armored short to wear will riding. I needed it to fit and feel great without sacrificing its protection ability and air flow. Since I live in Texas and summers get really hot here, breathability was a huge concern for me. I should mention that I bought the Dainese Pro Shorts first and wasn't really impressed so I returned them to have them replaced with the Alpinestars Bionic Freeride Shorts. To me, they feel way more comfortable and safe. The padding on the sides is substantially bigger. I feel I made a great decision. Gives me a better sense of being protected in the event of falling on my side. Also, I would like to note that the foam padding on the tailbone does NOT bother me while riding in the upright position. They do run a little small. I use a 38" in jeans and the XXL fit me perfectly.
Again, I highly recommend these to anyone wanted the little extra protection.

if my waist measurement is 32 what is the best size for me?

I based my purchase on their sizing chart and with me, they got it right. I would recommend you get size Medium.
