Fitment & styling are really nice. Fits true-to-size. I'm 5'6" 147lbs, athletic build, and I wear a size 38 race suit. Size Small fits me perfectly. It wicks sweat & flows air nicely, and doesn't get stinky- even after a hot, summer ride. It's easy to wash (cold cycle in washer), and it's easy to get in & out of, once you learn how to peel it off your shoulders, which is key. My only dislike is that the little black pattern pieces on the upper torso flake off over time- esp if you wear a back & chest protector. Those black pieces are purely cosmetic, but it does makes a flaky mess. I ended up spending 30 min peeling them all off to get it over with.

Great styling, comfortable fit, and true to size. The only issue that I had was that 2 of my left knuckles got scraped up a bit from two consecutive days of break-in wear (about 4 hours riding total). I suspect this should go away once they are fully broken in. Protection-wise, I think Spidi could've added a little more wrist padding/ armor and maybe a little more pinky protection. At $200, these are a very respectable pair of great looking & comfortable race gauntlet gloves. But, my $250 Knox Handroids were much easier to break in and offer far much better hand protection. Still I like them both and will wear both.

I purchased an additional D30 set, and stitched a custom pouch to insert one piece into my Icon Stryker shorts for tailbone protection. And, I wear this as additional lower-body protection under my leather race suit. I like the D30 armor, because it's very low-profile and CE-certified. The flip side is that it is slightly heavier than foam armor, and the surface coverage area is smaller. It's primary function, however, is target-area impact protection (hips, tailbone).
D30 is a soft, gel-like, CE-certified armor that is now being used as OEM in several manufacturers' riding gear- ie, ICON, KLIM etc. (http://www.d3o.com/category/motorcycle/)
I think the Knox replacement armor is, overall, probably superior- ie lighter, larger coverage. But, the problem with Knox armor is that it is extremely bulky and therefore not always practical in some applications- such as wearing underneath race suits. In those instances, I like the D30 for it's low profile and the CE certification.
Hopefully, I will never need to know how well it works. But, until then, it's part of my gear. ^_^

This Knox pad is a standard, drop-in CE back protector for jackets/ suits. And, I purchased it to replace the foam padding inside a custom Pilot EVO jacket I ordered, which has a 15"x12" pocket.
Last year I bought a nearly identical Fieldsheer pad of comparable quality, size, and identical CE rating for $10 + S&H for my other riding jacket. But, Fieldsheer products are getting harder to find these days, as I've heard their company is slowly phasing out the Fieldsheer label & focusing more on its Cortech brand. And, this Knox pad seems like the closest, comparable product- though slightly more expensive.
Looking at them side-by-side, the Knox pad is slightly better quality than the Fieldsheer pad. It's softer and has a more "finished & glossy" look. But, they are pretty much the same type of product- ie identical shape, nearly identical texture, and identical CE rating. Is the Knox one really $20 better? Not entirely sure...
But, for jackets that don't come with a CE back pad, $30 + S&H is still a very respectable price for a replacement option. And, I would highly recommend replacing the foam pad with something like this.
Overall, Knox has a solid reputation and makes some really great stuff. (Their products tend to be slightly bulky though.) I also own a pair of the Knox HandRoid exoskeleton gloves, and they are simply awesome.
It's great to see Revzilla offering more & more Knox products in their online store...
Yes, I recommend this product.

Very Poor Quality "ABRASIVE" Inner Lining...

I tried to update my review, but Revzilla's site wouldn't allow it. After wearing the Spidi Carbo 3 gloves for about a month now, I can say that the inner lining on these things are basically like sandpaper... I have 4 blisters- now scabs turning into scars- on 2 knuckles on each hand, and even after break-in they still rub after riding. The odd thing is that they do fit comfortably and I do have the correct size glove. So, the problem is 100% the abrasive inner lining. I've been using band-aids to cover my knuckles before putting them on. And, that's helped. I'm probably going to pickup a roll of gauze to wrap my knuckles. But, it is extremely disappointing that a company like Spidi cannot even make a decent race gauntlet at the $200 price point. Sigh.

Sizing Question

According to their size charts, SIDI seems to use European sizing and run 1/2 size bigger... If I'm a size 8 USA, will the size 42's fit me or be too big?

Correct installation?

When installed inside the jacket pouch, which side of the back protector is supposed to face/ touch your back- ie the bumpy side or the flat side? Or, does it not really matter?

Icon Field Armor Stryker Shorts Hip Armor is a lifesaver. Well not a lifesaver, but definitely a hip protector. So much so that we integrated both biofoam and CE hip protectors into the Field Armor Stryker shorts. The form fitting chassis places a layer of high-tenacity aramid between your ass and the street. If you have ever been down before, you wont need any further convincing on the need for this feature. Finally the mesh crotch panel provides ventilation in key areas, because protection without ventilation is just plain...sweaty. The Field Armor Stryker shorts, shielding the bits you hold most dear. Is this product rated for multiple impact protection and re-useable after a crash?

Is this product rated for multiple impact protection and re-useable after a crash?

In the product reviews for competing products- ie the Dainese Thorax Wave and ForceField Extreme Flite- you guys explained how the Dainese is a one-crash only product -vs- the ForceField, which is a multiple crash re-useable product.

But, you guys made no such explanations for the Alpinestars SMX-Bionic 2 vest. How does it rate/ compare?

Thanks for your help.

But, it is extremely disappointing that a company like Spidi cannot even make a decent race gauntlet at the $200 price point. Sigh.
My apologies for this follow-up being long overdue... Shortly after my post. Revzilla contacted me by phone to inquire about the knuckle abrasion problem I'd been having with with the new Carbo-3 gloves. I explained that the gloves fit comfortably, but my left hand, middle knuckles kept getting chaffed & blistered by the inside of the glove- even after break-in. So, I would wear band aids over my left knuckles before putting them on, and this solved my problem. Revzilla said they contacted Spidi to see if there were any known defects in this batch, but they didn't get any conformation or useful response. So, as a consolation, they gave me $50 store credit to make up for this minor inconvenience. Just wanted to say that I'm very impressed with the extra follow-up Revzilla extended to me for this purchase. And, they care about their customers and try to make sure the products they sell go the extra mile. I'll be shopping here again for sure. Cheers! ~ Detrich
