It's a good idea to have one of these, especially if you're on long trips and depend on either the gps or cell phone for communications and directions.

I found that with my Arai street helmet that the boom was getting in the way. This unit totally solved the problem. There is no difference in sound quality as compared to the regular headset with the boomed microphone.

I bought this unit specifically for the sake of being able to communicate with another rider, but the extras are well worth the money if you want something with all the bells and whistles if your into tech stuff! My only complaint is the sound quality of the speakers in regard to listening to music. The are not stereo and you can tell, but that's not why I bought them, so it's not a big deal to me. The sound quality for rider to rider, cell phone usage, and GPS directions are more than adequate. The volume goes plenty high enough for this purpose, and I wear heavy duty molded earplugs.
