REV'IT! Sand Pants The SAND Pants offer 4-season, year round comfort and protection from both pavement and the elements. The SAND Pants offer a double PWR/shell seat and PWR/wax coating on the inside of the legs, for a better grip on the bike. The legs are also versatile thin enough to wear inside the boot, but wide enough to wear over it. Watercatchers prevent water from creeping up into the leg, and a detachable thermal lining and removable 3-layer membrane round out the total comfort of the SAND trousers. The Sand Pants will zip with any current model men's REV'IT Jacket PROTECTION FEATURES Outer shell PWRshell 500D, PWRshell 750D, PWRwax 1200D Insulation detachable thermal liner Waterproofing detachable hydratex 3L (5000mm H2O) Breathability detachable hydratex 3L (7000g/m2/24hrs) Composition outer shell 100 polyamide lining 100 polyester thermal liner 100 polyamide (insulation 100 polyester) membrane 100 polyurethane (tricot 100 polyamide) Protection Prolife CE protection at knees, fully perforated EVA foam at hips, double textile seat Visibility laminated reflection at upper legs ERGONOMIC FEATURES Fit tour fit, regular Adjustability adjustment straps at waist, adjustment tab at ankles Ventilation VCS I zippers at upper legs Features stretch lips at back and knees, short and long connection zipper, adjustable protector pockets, calf zippers Pockets stash pockets, slit pockets

I bought these pants so I could retire the well-worn BMW suit I have been using for the past 4 years. Three days after receiving them I set out on a 1,500 tour through Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. Temperatures ranged from mid 30's to high 80's, so I had the opportunity to evaluate both the insulating and venting properties. In a word, excellent!
I ride an FJR1300, so there is some wind protection for the legs. Having said that, my older pants did not have an insulated liner and my legs would become slightly chilled at anything below about 50 degrees. Not so with the Sand pants - I was toasty warm in the low 30's and reasonably comfortable on a day that started at 40 and ended up 75.
The fit is great - I really appreciate the fact Rev It makes their pants in three different lengths, and the overall tailoring lives up to their tagline of "engineered skin". It fits closer than anything else I have owned - at first it seems too tight, but that feeling goes away quickly as you begin to realize the fit is the way it should be versus the baggy fit on most other clothing lines. I wear a 34" waist/30" length, so I order the "large/short" size. The waist is a bit snug with both liners in, but perfect without them. Good excuse to shed a few pounds.
Two very minor quibbles: with no liners installed, the stitching that holds the knee armor was slightly irritating on my leg, a condition that will probably go away with time; there are two zippers for attachment to a jacket - one is the typical short type and the other is almost 360 degrees - it is rather difficult to use the shorter one as it is in an awkward position behind you and snug up against the longer zipper, so its hard to get started.
My final comment is related to ordering from Revzilla. Since Rev-It gear is not discounted, the choice of where to buy it comes down to who you feel most comfortable dealing with - BTW, there is only one Rev It dealer in my state (Utah), and their inventory is pretty basic, so they were not a choice. The thing that cinched it for me was the online videos Revzilla provides - the entertaining and affable Anthony explains all the features in great detail and the visuals are the next best thing to actually seeing the product. That, plus their exchange program, did it for me!
Bottom line - I highly recommend the Sand pants (and jacket), the RevIt brand in general, and the excellent buying experience offered by Revzilla!
Yes, I recommend this product.
