This jacket is more of a fashion statement for the occasional scooter ride rather than for serious riding due to the very thin and soft leather. True, it's better than no protection at all but it is really not a motorcycle jacket.

I bought his jacket because it was only one I could find that has really good and bright reflective stripes/ logos. There are stripes down the sleeves, a large logo on the back, and two smaller logos on the upper arms. Brighter than anything else I have seen. Fit is pretty tight which means the number of layers one can wear underneath is pretty limited. So it is not really a touring jacket but more suitable for those one day trips. The bubble layer works... I have never been cold even in the 40s. No ventilation but the leather is perforated along the sleeves. A long zipper connects to any Dainese pants. I upgraded it with a customized (i.e. cut down) SasTec back protector. The only issue I had with this jacket is that the some of the seams opened up and got repaired. I hope it was just a "lemon" I got and not a general quality issue with Dainese.

I bought this helmet a while ago when I needed one with not much time to look around. It was the only one that matched my head shape. Weight is average and the air pump feature is nice. The faceshield is a bit thin and the gap in the first position is too big for my taste. The handle that locks the faceshield is flimsy as well but hasn't broken yet. The fabric of the liner feels very "poly" (and is smelly when new) but can be replaced which is a great feature. My liner has settled enough that I am going to order a replacement in one size smaller. Sunglasses easily fit and noise is average. The various ventilation sliders don't make a big difference. Something to consider is the Snell 2005 certification which, according to some expert opinions, is not the best option for small sizes in particular. The new Snell 2010 is more in sync the the ECE test criteria for small sizes. Finish is good and I like the retro style.

When I tried the jacket it felt like a men's just labeled as a women's: super wide shoulders, sleeves too long, v-shape from shoulders to waist with way too much material left under the arms and on the back. I bought the jacket according to the sizing guide and never had such fit issues with other brands. I wanted a loose fit but not so loose that even the protectors are not in a right place. I don't think even the smallest size will fit me because it hasn't a women-specific cut (I am 5'5" and not particularly skinny). The leather is just o.k. and a little stiff, at least when new. It is treated with some coating (polyethurane? silicone?), which makes it more water resistant but also a little smelly out the box. The leather of the old FG jackets was much better. The features of the jacket, however, are great. A lot of pockets, thought-out details (vents, fleece collar, snaps for layer, double leather at impact zones), neat seams, good zippers, and a thermo-layer that really keeps you warm. Reflector striping is on the front, back, and arms, and the wrist buttons reflect too. The back protector is small and useless (foam) and it is probably difficult to find an upgrade because of the shape. Overall, I can only recommend this jacket if your body shape is close to a men's (=wide shoulders) and you need plenty of room. Good price point but I guess you pay for all the features and not necessarily for the leather quality. The jacket is made in China.

The Siren is my only jacket and I have been riding in it for over a year. I use it on regular trips and longer tours and never had any issues with it. The ventilation is great in the heat while the jacket is warm enough in damper and colder weather. In about 34 degrees I had to wear another fleece underneath but generally, any combination of the rain and thermo layer offers enough weather protection including rain. I tried many jackets before I settled on this one because it had the best fit and looks. Details are well thought-out. I upgraded it with a Forcefield level 1 back protector, the level 2 was a little too bulky for the size 38 jacket. The only improvements could be more reflective striping (the striping used is visible but not as reflective as scotchlite), better protectors (upgradable, though), and a long zipper to connect to pants (only has the short zipper). I also have the Revit Mistral pants which the jacket easily connects to.

Due to the new design for Knox protectors the Prolife won't fit anymore (and Prolife are the better protectors according to your recommendations). Why the downgrade?

Scorpion EXO-500 Helmet - Solid Colors The Scorpion EXO-500 immediately catches the eye with its innovative design, enhanced by a superb sharp ridge on the underside of the shell. Inspired by its older brother, the Scorpion EXO-1000 , the EXO 500 Helmet is based on the GT philosophy and is fitted as standard with the last generation visor of its elder. And as if that were not enough, it integrates the SpeedView built-in retractable sunvisor treated with anti-fog coating on both sides, two accessories usually reserved for high-end helmets! Comprising 3 caps and a lighter and more durable shell than its predecessor, fitted with a very soft and comfortable inner lining thanks to the new KwikWick2 liner and triple density foam cheek pads, the Scorpion EXO 500 Helmets will drastically change your expectations from a full face helmet of the standard range. 1100 or 500

I think I'm pretty dead set on getting a scorpion helmet. I'm a little unclear as to which one to go with. I have a Honda CBR 600RR. The video states that the 500 is the way to go for sport riding and the 1100 is the way to go for the upright cruiser type bikes, but then in the Q&A section there's an answer that says the opposite. So which is it? Sport bike riders should get the 500 or the 1100??
I tried on both. The 1100 definitely has a different internal shape than the 500. I'd say the 1100 is more oval and narrower and the 500 is more round. It comes down to your head shape and you should try them on.

The jacket I saw was brand-new and Rev'it lists Knox on their website now, too. I have the old Siren with Pro Life and love it but I don't want to downgrade if I need to replace it. Back protectors other than Knox (Forcefield or SasTec) apparently won't fit anymore, either.

Alpinestars Matrix Kevlar Jacket Designed to take on the city streets in style, Alpinestars Matrix Kevlar Jacket incorporates CE certified protectors and Kevlar reinforcements in a design that reveals a streetwise attitude. Constructed from Cotton based fabric with a double PU coating that combines a soft feel with weather resistance and durability. Inner Kevlar elbow and shoulder reinforcements for abrasion resistance in key impact areas. Adjustable CE certified Bio Armor protectors in the elbows and shoulders are extremely lightweight and offer exceptional impact protection. The protectors can also be removed for casual use. Convenient internal Napoleon pocket with zipper Please Note The Matrix Kevlar Jacket does not have a back protector pocket.

How much air does this flow?

Love the style, but am concerned that the Matrix Kevlar won't flow enough air in the Baltimore summer heat. Any thoughts? Also, can you confirm that this does have a pocket for back protection?
I rode in it in about 95 degrees desert heat and found the air flow sufficient. It has openings in the front, back and lower arms. Has back protector pocket for upgrade.
