I just tried Gerbings heated gear, and now I own not only the Extreme Element pants, but also the LT jacket, gloves, and insoles. It's the best heated gear out there, and I can kick myself for not buying Gerbings 2 seasons ago. Makes a huge difference riding in cold weather and has extended my riding season by a good 3 months a year. Keep in mind that the gloves and jackets run true to size, but the pants run a little large: my size 34 relaxed fit waist only needed a size SM in these pants (I wear size LG in Scorpion pants and size 36 in Alpinestar A-10 pants for reference). Worth every penny, especially since you can now laugh at whatever cold weather mother nature throws at you.

I use the T-Pro level 2 back protector during warmer months, and the Forcefield Adventure harness in colder weather. T-Pro offers the best protection, with comfort, as the nitrex armor conforms to your body shape so well that you forget its there. I just rode 120 miles on my Street Triple in 90+ weather with this under my mesh jacket, and I wasn't uncomfortable, even in traffic and at red lights. I only noticed the retained heat when I took it off. Sure, it'll add some heat to your back if you compare it to riding with only a t-shirt, but I wasn't sweating or irritated. But for the protection with comfort it offers, you can't beat this back protector. Forcefield makes a mockery of the competition.

I was looking for a more practical mesh hot weather pant to use with ankle high boots for when I didn't want to use my Alpinestar A-10s with full size boots. Tried Scorpion Deuce pants but they are cut so awkward they are only comfortable when standing. Not so with these pants. Nice air flow, excellent fit and feel on and off the bike. My armored shorts fit underneath with no binding, and I really appreciate the different styling with bellows pockets.

The Sub4Pro is my choice of back protection not only because of the high level of protection, but because the material conforms to your body,so you pretty much forget you're wearing it, even when off the bike. The only caveat is that it's noticeably thicker than the level 2 Forcefield Flite I wear when its colder, so a slim fit jacket or race suit might be a tight fit you'd have to watch out for. Otherwise, your regular leather, textile, and/or mesh jacket shouldn't have a fit issue when you wear it. An added plus is the ease of removing the pads to wash it and keep it fresh during the hotter months. Worth every penny.

I use the Forcefield Flite, Adventure, Sub4Pro, Adventure pants and Action shorts: temp. and where I'm riding determines what combo I wear. Anyone who is concerned with the fit shouldn't... the Flite conforms to your body so you forget its there. Coverage is excellent, and the kidney belt makes a difference on those longer rides. The Flite keeps protection where you need it if you ever need it and it is really easy to put on or remove. You may trust your elbows and shoulder pads already in your jacket, but give your spine the best protection you can get.

Does this provide any abrasion resistance?
I'm looking at using this under my jacket as a replacement for my jacket's internal armor. My jacket has zip off sleeves; in conjunction with protection kit like this it would make a great summer combo if I didn't have to worry about the shoulder and elbow padding tearing away due to abrasion. How will this kit hold up without having something like cordura or leather over top of it?
The nitrex armor Forcefield uses in their back protector should survive the abrasion of going down at least once without some kind of leather or armor-tex mesh over it. I sometimes ride in hot weather with the Forcefield Adventure harness on, without a mesh jacket over it. Looks cool, stays cool, and I'm confident it will not only stand up to road rash, but I am also confident the shoulders and elbows will stay in place. Best option for you is to invest in a mesh summer weather jacket, since they perform better than a cordura jacket (even a cordura jacket that has a million zipper vents).

Can the arm shoulder, elbow, and forearm pads from the Forcefield Extreme Harness Adventure be attached to the Extreme Harness Flite?
Yes. The Adventure shoulders have a velcro tab that slips into the shoulder velcro strapping of the Flite. The Flite is really just the core (chest/back) of the Adventure.
