I apparently have to learn this lesson time and time again. I've tried numerous less expensive gloves, and compromised on protection and durability. Before this I spent $110 on a pair of gloves that offered little in the way of protection. The pair before those were $30 and both (left and right) tore on the first day.
Another clique is "an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure." I suspect the guy that came up with that saying went down on his bike while wearing cheapie gloves. Stuck with a couple of grand worth of surgical bills to regain "most" of the use in your hands is a lot of "cure" to swallow. And knowing that you saved $100 on your glove purchase pre-crash is no consolation when the Doctor tells you that you might never be able to flip-off someone again.
To be honest, I wish these gloves had even more protection.
While I have not wrecked with these, I do feel they will hold up well when needed. I live and ride in Texas. Its hot here. No, really hot! Not your pansy Northern 90º heat-wave hot. So a comfortable glove is important. These gloves do flow air well. Also they fit me well. I'm of German decent, and these gloves are made in Germany and fit my burly meat-hook hands well. Coincidence? I think not.
All and all, I'm pleased with these gloves. Sure, the $170 price was steep, but I'm hoping they'll last more than one season and offer some great protection in the event I do go down. And that is worth every penny to me.
I use these gloves on my '13 BMW R1200GS.

I finally broke down this year and purchased a electric jacket liner. I purchased this connector so I could power my portable heat-troller and 90 watt jacket. All of this stuff is from first gear. So last Friday I hopped on the my R1200GSW and was riding to breakfast. I had a green light on the controller, but no warmth in the jacket at all. According to the heat-troller instructions, a yellow light indicates that the polarity has been reversed.
Also the instructions mention that you should never use a BMW power port on a CAN BUS system. So, I'm a little confused why they sell this item. Perhaps its for those older, pre-CAN BUS bikes.
I'd send it back, but I trashed the package it came in. Oh well, I'll maybe cut off the end and use it for something else.

If you curious why this helmet costs so much, you'll discover the answer the first time to disassemble it for cleaning. I recently took mind apart for cleaning and installation of the SMH 10 headset. It took me watching the video on youtube and about an hour to dissemble and clean the parts. After letting them dry for a few days (its always good to have spare helmets) I set upon the task of reassembly. First step is make the special tool they show you in the video out of a spare coat hanger. Then the headliner - that goes in easy. The cheek pads are the tough items given the anti-roll strap system Shuberth uses. But patients and enough beer will usually result in success. The neck roll was equally tough to install given the wires from the SMH 10. I think it took an hour total to reassemble. Its nice to know I didn't miss my calling building helmets at the Schuberth factory.
Lastly, while the pin lock system works great at preventing fogging, riding a lot of gravel roads behind other riders will result in dust getting between the pin lock lens and the face shield. To clean that out, you'll need to remove the pin lock from the shield and wash and dry them both.
So its a great helmet, just be prepared to spend some time when its cleaning time.

Easy to use and works well with the iPhone 4, but I had a hard time hearing the music at highway speeds. I mounted this on my Shoei Hornet helmet. At slower speeds, I could hear clearly. It could just be me, I do not have great hearing.
