I was looking for a shorty boot that was comfortable to walk in but didn't sacrifice protection and I found it in the SMX-2. I have purchased and used many other manufacturer's products but always opt for A-Star beecause I know I'm getting a quality product that will not break the bank (although a bit disapointed with the "made in China" tag).
Sizing: I typically wear a 46 euro (12 US) for all riding/racing boots but the size 46 felt a little large (wide width and a large toe box) so I called Revzilla to get some input. It was suggested I order one size down so I did- good advice since I am much happier with the fit. As always Revzilla honored its return policy and within days my account was credited!!!

Is the Buckle on the SMX-2 Boot metal on metal or metal on plastic?
The buckle is all plastic but very robust. There is no major stress on it so I don't suspect that it will fail over time.

Is this boot fine for wide feet?
Absolutely. Compared to other A-Star boots I would say this one has a wide width which forced me to go down one size. If you have wide feet you should be good to go.
