Like the stampeding hoofs of a thousand horses, the chain rained down. Relentless, methodical. The hand, clad in black layered leather and riveted titanium plates, worked its brutal magic. At once ethereally united with the chain, yet somehow distant. Durable leather construction. Floating titanium knuckle armor. Riveted palms. The Icon Original Glove excels at what it was meant to; provide that certain original, edgy appearance for those looking for something out of the ordinary.
For the price point the glove is set at, it doesn't come with an array of features that one might find on other gloves in the same price range; but just glancing at the glove, it is obvious that that rich, technical features is not the glove's intended purpose. So the decision to purchase the pair is going to be based on the desire of fulfilling a unique look, which the glove does extremely well.
Overall fit and feel of the glove is good, with no extreme points of discomfort to point out; however the only attribute precluding the glove from achieving excellence is the slight under sizing of the digits: not to the extent of warranting purchasing a larger size, but enough to notice when dawning the gloves- though I’m sure this will become less noticeable with continual use of the glove. Also the palm of the glove markedly thicker than other Icon gloves I have purchased in the past, providing a little less than subtle feeling on the controls; but again I feel this will be mediated as the glove is broken in and accumulates wear.
Overall, the only characteristics preventing the glove from obtaining 5 stars are the price, and the slightly small fit to the digits. Every other element of the glove is excellent; all contributing to generate that perfect epic, archaic-medieval look to any gear load out.
