We had an extremely dry winter in Colorado (2011), allowing for a lot of winter riding. I have a 40 minute ride north on I-25 (75-85mph). These gloves were great for 20 F mornings. In 4 months I already saved enough gas to pay for the gloves and controller.
I have not experienced the construction issues described in the other review, and the lack of palm heat is well documented in the product website (I did not find it to be an issue, my palms were warm).
I used the Y-harness in my existing jacket which worked well, but I recommend heat shrink on the connection between the Y-harness and the Temp controller (I had a cold ride one morning until I got to work and discovered the disconnected harness, oops).
FYI: I found the best controller location is on the right hip, with the controls forward. This allowed easy adjustments while riding, and running wires pretty easy.
Rides: 1995 Harley Davidson FLSTF/I Fat Boy
Yes, I recommend this product.

Gerbing's Controller Adapter Cord (COAX to SAE)
Gerbing's Controller Adapter Cord (COAX to SAE)
Gerbing's SAE to Coax Adaptor Cord SAE plug on one end and a coax male plug on the other end This plug can connect pre-2003 clothing from Gerbing's, which used SAE plugs, to the new coax temperature controllers Cannot be used to power heated clothing from a Battery Tender plug

How about 2 harnesses?

Can I not have two connectors (harnesses) attached to my battery? The Battery Tender and the Standard Gerbing? That way I would just use whichever one I needed.
Yes.

That is my current setup. It did get a little messy with all the wires. The messy install was fixed when I had to swap the battery. The new battery had both top and side mount terminal posts. I do like having my glove connection up front and my battery tender near the back.

Gerbing's Portable Dual Temp Controller The Gerbing temperature controller has two separate temp-controllers that provide separate controls for two different articles of heated clothing, such as gloves and jacket liner, for the same person. Attach this temperature controller to any solid object with Velcro or attach to your belt with our convenient, optional clip-on case. Dial in your level of comfort. Digital controllers ensure that your heated clothing uses only as much power as requested. Wires are UL listed and completely safe, in all weather conditions. Three-Year Warranty. Note Not for use with two jacket liners only for use with a single jacket liner plus gloves, pants, and/or insoles.

Can this plug to cigarette lighter rather than to battery.

Yes, Gerbring has a 12V Plug adapter.

and a handful of other adapters depending on your bike:
