Shoei Neotec Modular Helmet Evolving on previous designs, Shoei has revamped its modular helmet style with a streamlined and attractively sculpted shape that conveys the feel of freely moving through the outdoors in the Shoei Neotec Modular Helmet. Overall shell size is kept compact by incorporating the internal sun visors open/close mechanism inside all ventilation mechanisms are shaped and positioned in such a way as to reduce any possible drag. A redesigned aerodynamic spoiler also helps to cut lift, reducing neck strain on long, cross country rides. In the Shoei Neotec all these features combine to create a premium helmet that excels in appearance, protection, comfort and performance. The Shoei Neotec Helmets chin bar is connected to the same axis point and mechanism as its shield, minimizing extra parts. This also enables simultaneous closing of the shield with the chin bar, which is then held in place with an easy-open lock release button. The shield lock system offers secure closure or the ability to keep the shield slightly open to allow for increased airflow. With the Shoei Neotec Helmet, Shoei now includes a built-in sun shield, the QSV-1. The visor tucks neatly away beneath a non-intrusive shell built into the helmets liner, and can be lowered with the easy control of a sliding button. Shoei Neotec Helmet Features Face Shield Features Easily operable lever mechanism Anti-fog, anti-scratch, 99 UV blocking New Pinlock-ready CNS-1 faceshield Wider and taller than the CX-1V that it replaces Includes Pinlock insert 3D injection molding process ensures a distortion-free view Improved Ventilation and Aerodynamics Newly designed vortex generators pull air through helmet 276 more airflow than Multitec Added inlets and outlets Vents are flush against helmet to maintain aerodynamics 5-Ply Shock-Absorbing Fiber Shell 3 shell sizes AIM Multi-Composite construction Lightweight yet strong Shell-integrated spoiler reduces lift and drag during high-speed riding Dual EPS Liner Multi-density EPS for optimal protection Two vents funnel fresh air through the EPS liner Dual liner channels route and disperse air evenly throughout the helmet EPS liner in chin bar All new interior Fully removable 3D interior liner Top center pad is removable and washable Improved cheekpad design allows better fit with eyeglasses Included chin curtain can be inserted into the chin bar to reduce turbulence and noise All Neotec Helmets sold in the US have a double D-ring closure Be sure to check out our Shoei Neotec Review above, in which we detail and break down all of the features and functionality of the brand new Shoei Neotec Helmet. My first and only use of my recently purchased Shoei Neotec was on a 1000 mile Saddlesore ride. My comments and observations are solely based on this one ride (albeit a 20 hour ride). I hadn’t worn the helmet for more than about 20 minutes from the time I took it out of the box to the beginning of the ride but I found the helmet felt as good after 20 hours as it did after 20 minutes.
Two features of the helmet really surprised me.
First, I found the integrated sun visor was all I needed even when the sun is really intense. I normally wear sunglasses even with a darken helmet visor. With sunglasses on I typically have some challenges clearly seeing the GPS screen mounted below my line of sight. With the integrated sun visor a small section at the lower edge that allows a non-tinted view of my GPS screen.
Second, the top vent allows a huge amount of air flow. During the ride the temperature ranged from 23F to 68F. At the low temperature the helmet never got drafty with all the vents closed and during the warmer times even at the first setting of the top vent the air was more than adequate. I’ll be curious to see how the helmet fairs with the high temperatures experienced this past summer (100F plus routinely) but it should be very livable.
Another feature that I’m neutral about is the cheek pads. They are snug against my cheeks and it is impossible to chew anything without biting the inside of my cheek…as I found out. However, the cheek pads enhance the fit of the helmet and are not a big issue.
Despite cross winds of 20-30mph for much of the ride the helmet never got overly heavy feeling nor did my neck get tired from the sideways wind buffeting.

SAS-TEC Back Protector Cutting edge SAS-TEC material is intelligent armor constructed from visco elastic soft foam smart molecules. It has earned the highest CE rating available (CE level 2), during an impact, the armor freezes and hardens, absorbing the shock and distributing its force over a large area to reduce the risk of fractures. The protector is not destroyed by impact, but reverts back to its original state and maintains its capability to protect from multiple impacts. SAS-TEC Armor has a soft and pliable exterior (as opposed to rigid KNOX armor) which offers a great deal of comfort and mobility. This protector is anatomically designed and fitted to provide superior spine and back protection as well as the base of the neck /between the shoulder blades. SC-1/11 fits Women's Turbine Jacket SC-1/12 fits REV'IT! Cayenne Pro Jacket and Turbine Jacket REV'IT Gore-Tex Jackets have different shaped back protector pockets depending on the size of jacket, see the size chart for fitment information SC-1/16 should only be used for XYL or larger Gore-Tex Jackets SC-1/11 Measurements (approximate) Height 15 3/4 Width (at widest point) 13 Thickness 3/4 SC-1/12 Measurements (approximate) Height 19 Width (at widest point) 13 Thickness 3/4 SC-1/16 Measurements (approximate) Height 21 3/8 Width (at widest point) 13 3/8 Thickness 3/4

Upgraded the standard protection on my Revit Defender. Fit perfectly and is very comfortable. I found the new back protector to provide a extra bit of back support on long rides. While it does add a bit of extra weight it is not noticeable when wearing the jacket. I like the feeling of additional protection and safety.

I'm still getting adjusted to the Defender jacket and pants. Having ridden several hundred miles I realize Revit produced this combo to fit better on the bike than standing around. The armor is the right place while seated, the airflow is fine...although the 100degree days are past and I like the pocket locations. I'm still on the fence with the three layer combined jacket since as each layer comes out the jacket gets bigger. I was right on the line between a large and medium and choose a large based on measurements but probably could have gotten by with a medium. I'll put the jacket and pants to the test in a few weeks on a longer ride into cold and rainy sections so that should really test the GoreTex lining.
Yes, I'd recommend this combo.

I have been using the Pinlock system for several weeks now with temps in the 40s. Regular face shields fog up repeatedly but not the Pinlock system. I do find the lights from street lights in the early morning give a star like appearance through the lens. Not terribly distracting just weird.
Glad I made the purchase.

Sizing with layers out.

I'm still searching for the perfect jacket...that and the Easter bunny. It seems most jackets with a waterproof liner and thermal liner removed gain a full size. Any thoughts on how this jacket fits after both layers are removed for the hot weather usage? Perhaps I'll find the Easter bunny first?

3 season description

So, what do you think the upper temperature the Tech Touring jacket would be wearable? Right now August in the midwest is going from 50F in the morning to 95F by 4pm. I realize individual's tolerance is a major factor. Those two small air vents on the top don't seem to be designed for high air flow.

Thanks
