I'm pretty happy with this purchase overall. The wiring is barely long enough to route from my SV's battery to the bars and still maintain full steering ability.

The first face shield on the Vortex delaminated on the first ride. Revzilla replaced the shield immediately and the new shield has held up since.

Bell Vortex Helmet Nothing beats a solid color to highlight the stylish design of a helmet. The Bell Vortex is available in a choice of gloss black, matte black, white or silver four classic color choices in the riding spectrum. Developed in Bells state-of-the-art Santa Cruz, California design center, the Vortex borrows heavily from its big brother the Star. With a solid compliment of features the Bell Vortex is a great choice as a primary helmet for everyday use that can also transition to the occasional track day. A killer price rounds out the package and gives you a big bang for your buck. Features Velocity Flow Ventilation system with FlowAdjust for maximum stability and temperature control with minimal noise and buffeting Lightweight composite polycarbonate alloy shell Contour cheek pads (by means of stacked foam, not hand cut) Removable and washable, antibacterial/antimicrobial interior comfort liner Padded Wind collar to drastically reduce wind/road noise Integrated speaker pockets for audio speakers ClickRelease for the fastest, easiest, tool-free shield swaps ever Clear NutraFog II superior anti-fog, anti-scratch and UV protected shield. Dark tint and other shields available for purchase separately Padded chin strap with D-ring closure and strap keeper Five-year warranty Weight 1600g Certification Snell M2010, DOT Please Note Helmet ships with clear faceshield only. RevZilla's Opinion of the The Bell Vortex Helmet The Bell Vortex Helmet has grown to be one of the top selling and more ubiquitous 200 sport helmets in the RevZilla family. The light weight, Snell Rating and ability to use the Bell Photochromic shield allow the Bell Vortex Helmet to cover a lot of the bases the typical sport or track day rider is looking for in a reasonably priced helmet. Many times we see this type of functionality only available in helmets over the 300 mark. In the 3/4 or tuck position the Bell Vortex Helmet will provide a great solution in just about any spirited or sport riding scenario. If you find a graphic or color that suits your taste and you have an intermediate oval head shape, the Bell Vortex is a great option.

At this pricepoint you're getting a quality product. Materials are as expected, shield functionality is great at this pricepoint, One grip that Revzilla remedied immediately is that the shield's coating delaminated. Revzilla shipped a replacement immediately. Great customer service.

Overall I really like this jacket. It looks good and works well. I bought it as a warm weather alternative to the Cayenne Pro. In that respect that jacket is good, not great. It has the potential to be better. The front chest and stomach area flow a lot of air. So much so that on my naked bike at cruising speed I get a little bit of a parachute effect. I should mention that I have a SAS-TEC back protector in (had to do minor trimming to fit) that is limiting some airflow out the back. That jacket could use, and at its pricepoint I would have expected, exhaust vents similar to the intakes on the upper arms. The parachute effect causes the front of the collar to press against my neck. Not uncomfortably, but noticeable.
Also, in terms of ventilation, the lower arms don't flow any air. The Cayenne Pro has these great zippers that open the top of the forearm to flow lots of air. The Ignition has the same mesh material as the chest/stomach but either it's a tighter weave or there is an additional layer behind it because I don't feel it while riding and taking the jacket off and blowing through the material I can't feel any airflow.
With that said I was still comfortable in 83F weather with humidity while at speed.
It terms of fit, as many have said the jacket doesn't taper at the waist. I have a 41" chest and a 30" waist. The jacket fits straight up and down. The waist adjustments allow you to fit the jacket (size 52 for me) to your liking but not enough to make it a race-style taper.
Quality of material is what you'd expect from Rev'It!, except for two things. Really the same issue twice. The sleeve liner attachments at the cuff and the pants zipper attachment both are sewn into the mesh liner. One of the attachment points in the cuff has already torn and I can see this becoming an issue in the future. The shell will last forever but the mesh liner will need repairs.
Protection as mentioned previously is great for a summer jacket.
One detail that was easy fix but still annoying is the lack of pull tabs on the side pockets. The pull tab is behind the leather and with gloves on can be a pain to find. Adding pull tabs was easy, but again at the price point I expected them to be there.
The neck doesn't have the same adjustability as the Cayenne pro which might have been for style. It fits me just fine so I can't complain.
One final detail that really should be included in all Rev'It! jackets, two-color cuff attachments. It would take the guesswork out of snapping the liner in if you knew it wasn't twisted if you knew which snap went where.

I've mostly been using this cover indoors so I can't comment about its durability but in all other aspects I would recommend it. I ride an SV650 N with the stock mirrors. This cover has no trouble fitting the bike in a size LG.
The metallized lower portion hasn't melted when I've covered the bike while still hot, yet...
The few times it has been used outdoors the bike has been dry when the cover came off.
Just watch those metal hooks when you're putting the cover on. They're rubberized but still might damage your tank if you're not careful.

As a premium jacket from a premium brand I had high expectations. None of which have been let down.
In the 30F weather this winter the jacket was definitely not the weak link in my gear.
In the 80F weather so far this year the jacket is reaching the end of its 3rd season. The ventilation is very good, for what this jacket is. A great touring jacket with plenty of pockets and other features that make it hard to leave as the temps climb. This will be my first summer with the Cayenne Pro and so far it's been keeping me cool, the arm vents work really well.
Fit is a probably on par, I have a 41 inch chest, 30 inch waist and have a medium. In the winter. with both liners in, it would feel a little tight around my shoulders with a sweater underneath. I never needed a sweater though. Commuting to work I would find myself putting a sweater on at work and just riding in a t-shirt and still being warm.
The quality of the jacket is generally very high. I have a few higher wear areas that, in my opinion have prematurely began to show wear. The top of the velcro cuff adjusters spent all winter inside my gloves gauntlet (rev'it kelvin h20). One of the zippers had to be resewn/reinforced. Otherwise this jacket is excellent. Excellent adjustments, plenty of pockets, great style. I would highly recommend.

I've been collecting REV'IT! gear as the need arises and have yet to be disappointed. The monster gloves do fit a little on the small side. My hand measured 8.25" and the large fit slightly tight at first but has since broken in nicely. An additional quirk about the fit, the pinky is a little on the long side, not to the point where it interferes with grabbing the controls though.
These gloves are billed as a summer glove. It has been in the low 80's with low humidity here recently and the gloves have been comfortable. They don't flow a lot of air, but so far I'm happy.

High quality, perfect fit for a long oval head.

On fit: My previous helmet was an HJC CL-16 size L. The shape of this helmet was not ideal for my long oval head. My 24inch circumference dome fits perfectly in the Profile. This is by far the most impressive part of the helmet. The fit is perfect.
Finish: The finish is on par with the price. Mine is solid white. A nice touch not found on cheaper helmets in solid colors is the color matched plastic pieces. The HJC had black plastic pieces. All parts of this helmet are obviously high quality.
Ventilation: I've only ridden in the recent late fall/early weather so can't comment on how ventilation in the heat but all vents open I can feel a chill. The chin vent works well to channel air up over the shield. The chin spoiler seems ineffective. The operation of the helmets vents has great positive feedback on the chin vent and rear vents, the top vents are similar but better than other brands. One fit issue is the poor seal on the rear vent. For the price and quality of the Arai brand I would have expected the vent cover to form some kind of seal over the vent hole. Haven't noticed any leaks with the vent closed though.
Noise: MUCH quieter than the CL-16. Without a crosswind at highway speeds the helmet is surprisingly calm.
Aerodynamics: Significantly less movement in the helmet when at cruising speeds. It doesn't feel like it's pushing into my face. Head checks are equally painless.
Weight: A pleasure to wear compared to the CL-16.
The Shield: My biggest positive and biggest complaint. The CL-16 mechanism was on par with its price. The profile's infinitely adjustable friction system works well, i'm impressed. It locks in the up position which is nice as well. However, up is not out of my field of vision. While this isn't a problem, when riding at low speed around town it's nice not to see the shield when looking up at a light. Field of vision is slightly less than the CL-16 but not a major issue. The biggest issue with the helmet is the shield mechanism.
It's a small sliding switch(?) that when pushed forward is supposed to limit how far the shield opens to allow for ventilation. This seems poorly thought out. The shield is pressed/sealed well enough against the helmet that in most cases attempting to open the shield this small amount requires enough force to push the switch past its stop and open the shield fully.
Also the switch, maybe it's aerodynamic to be so small and rounded but it's difficult to operate with a glove on. It's not impossible, but I expected something more functional from an Arai. Shoei has a great lever, good size, easy to operate, that pushes the shield forward to vent.
The shield should also have been pinlock from the start for the price you pay for an Arai. I've never used it but it is a premium helmet.
Overall you can see what you're paying for and I'd highly recommend this helmet.

Just replaced this helmet with an Arai Profile because it was the only helmet to fit my long oval shaped head. The CL-16 always left me with a red mark on my forehead which translated into a headache after an hour on the bike. This helmet is not for someone with a long oval head. The headache combined with the gap at the neck and on the side of the head left me with too much windnoise and the feeling that the helmet would not stay put in an accident.
The chin vent is well constructed but pointless. Open or closed this helmet flows about the same amount of air. I put a Shoei chin curtain in to try and curb wind noise. It made a small difference.
The visor mechanism is on par with the price. Per HJC's adjustment instructions I moved the side plates as far back as they would go to try for a better seal along the front to reduce wind noise. I can't say there was a difference.
The visors operation is also on par with the price. The visor material is less dense than the side plate mechanism. This leads to a buildup of the soft plastic visor on the mechanism. No amount of adjustment or lubrication would completely eliminate this. Leading to a frequent cleaning regiment to keep from having to pull my head off to open the visor.
The helmet is heavy. It catches a descent amount of wind on over the shoulder checks. At highway speeds there is a noticeable amount of helmet movement towards my face. The top vents don't seem to do anything.
All that said, why 4 stars? This helmet is cheap. It at least meets Snell standards. It has great peripheral vision. The visor is easy to remove. It's cheap!
Pros Great Value
Cons Flimsy
Yes, I recommend this product.

SAS-TEC Back Protector Cutting edge SAS-TEC material is intelligent armor constructed from visco elastic soft foam smart molecules. It has earned the highest CE rating available (CE level 2), during an impact, the armor freezes and hardens, absorbing the shock and distributing its force over a large area to reduce the risk of fractures. The protector is not destroyed by impact, but reverts back to its original state and maintains its capability to protect from multiple impacts. SAS-TEC Armor has a soft and pliable exterior (as opposed to rigid KNOX armor) which offers a great deal of comfort and mobility. This protector is anatomically designed and fitted to provide superior spine and back protection as well as the base of the neck /between the shoulder blades. Bought two of these. One for a Cayenne Pro, which it REALLY should have come with, and another for the Ignition.
It fits the Cayenne perfectly, the ignition required some trimming. It's November and appropriately cold, as other reviewers have stated the armor gets stiff when cold. I've noticed this when hanging the jacket in the office after riding in. The only risk is apparently that stiff means brittle with this material. Bend it too far? and it cracks? I haven't tested that one yet. This was unnoticeable while riding though.
Pros light weight, Comfortable
Cons stiff when cold
