AltRider BMW R1200GS Lexan Headlight Guard When the sun goes down, the adventure is only beginning. Protect your headlight with the AltRider Lexan Headlight Guard for the BMW R 1200 GS so you can keep going without fear of rocks or debris ending your ride. Bullet-proof Lexan plastic shields the vulnerable headlight, and its scratch-resistant face will keep your path clearly lit. The lens is held by sturdy stainless steel arms, which attach securely to the motorcycle frame using OEM hardware and are locked into position by the blinker stocks. When its time to clean up, taking off the face is a cinch and can be done quickly and easily. With a counter-clockwise turn, the Dzus fasteners release no tools necessary. You dont even need to worry about a pocket to put the fastener in, because it comes with a nylon retaining washer installed. Gas stops become easy places to grab a window washer and wipe grime off your headlight. If you decide you want more of an off-road appearance, you can switch out the Lexan face with the AltRider stainless steel face (available separately). Both fit with the AltRider Glare Guard , which is included with purchase of either headlight guard. Save yourself hassle and frustration and the purchase of a 450 headlight assembly by using one or both of AltRiders headlight guards. Features Interchangeable with the AltRider Stainless Steel Headlight Guard for the BMW R 1200 GS Comes with the AltRider Glare Guard for the BMW R 1200 GS Bullet-proof Lexan face Dzus fasteners

It's hard to equate any sort of "style" to a product that hangs out in front of your headlight to protect it from being smashed by rocks, but the Altrider guard at least looks the part on an adventure bike. Once the bracket is installed, the guard itself detaches easily for washing.
Installation was total pain. Not so much because of the guard itself, but because Altrider had to make use of existing attachment points to affix the glare guard to the bike. The mounting brackets bolted up quickly, but the screws that hold the glare guard on were very difficult to reach and remove/replace. I ended up using a ratchet with two flex joints and an extension! I recommend the parts, once installed, they should do the job nicely.

The Altrider Potentiometer guard looks pretty slick, conforms well to the styling of the R1200 series bikes, and gives excellent protection to the throttle position sensor. I occasionally bump it with my boot, but was probably doing that to the TPS, prior to installing the guard. Installation is a five minute job, with clear directions provided.

When I unpacked the bag from its shipping box, I thought I'd bought a portable garage for my bike - it's that big! But seriously, it easily engulfed my boots, pressure suit, helmet and knee braces in the lower compartment, with plenty of room for other apparel in the other nicely-distributed pockets and compartments. The handle locks telescopes into position nicely and the bag wheels easily and in balance when pulled. Handles and compression straps look plenty rugged and work fine. Although the bag is expensive, it should hold up for a long time.
