The Dainese Scalpel Gloves shipped and arrived quickly. With an Amazon Prime account I don't have much patience for lagged shipping and Revzilla did not disappoint.
The gloves were snug, but I did buy them in a size Small although I was sized 8.5 for a Medium (so I believe they are true to size). However, with their limited stock and good sale I thought I'd try anyway.
They were definitely stiff at first. I wore them to sleep for a night and in the morning they definitely felt comfortable in terms of fit and movement. After a couple hours worth of riding I was not aware of any functional limitations.
The carbon fiber and polyurethane palm and ulnar protective accents gave me a peace of mind as they seem well placed and feel quite substantial while not inhibiting range of motion, which goes to show how much R&D they invest in their products. The precurved fingers are a nice touch as well as the distortion control (abduction control, scientifically speaking) on the fifth digit. The piping on the wrist is appreciated for esthetics.
Also, even though they are not gauntlets and wrist protection isn't as emphasized, I've tried using them as punching gloves on a 100 lb. heavy bag and they feel almost as comfortable as my hand wraps/12 oz. gloves combo.
I would only say that they are a bit lacking in breathability but I attribute that to ordering a smaller size for which I am fitted.
As a dentist, I placed great faith in these gloves to protect my hands and I don't think I'll be disappointed should something unfortunate occur. They don't fit my "style" of ride (Harley 1200 Nightster - Cafe Racer) but idiots on the street do not differentiate between brands of motorcycles when they run into them. They also are a little less economical but protecting my hands are well worth the investment.
