Fits perfectly in both my Alpinestars textile and leather jacket. The only time I noticed the back protector was the first time I inserted it in the jacket, simply because the stock insert is soft and mushy. Air flow is fantastic. I'm riding in 75-85 degree weather and it adds no discomfort.
I can't say whether or not it actually works, fortunately, but it does add peace of mind in case I go down.
Trying to think of anything realistically negative about the product but nothing comes to mind.

As a new rider, I didn't know what to expect from the Kriega R25 motorcycle backpack. I'd been riding with an old standard backpack for some time, and wasn't sure there was going to be much of a difference between the bags. Any doubts regarding a difference were removed pretty quickly once I started using the R25.
The R25 lives up to and exceeds any expectation I had, and I use the backpack every time I ride The weight is distributed to my chest and even after an hour or more of riding I don't feel any sort of burden on my back. The quadlock harness is easy to use and feels extremely secure. The backpack material is great quality and appears very durable, particularly the zippers. The back has a padded mesh material that allows airflow so your back doesn't get much hotter than normal while riding.
One of the biggest factors that played part in this purchase decision was the reflective lining that's on the back of the bag. Safety is a pretty big concern for me on a bike, and the reflective material on the bag plus the ability to add a back protector insert were a huge pro.
One of the concerns before purchasing the bag was size. The R20 seems much more convenient when in busier places such as coffee shops or bars, but after looking at both bags I'm glad I went with the R25. With the R25, I can even do some light grocery shopping without worrying about wear to put all my stuff.
Aesthetics were also a factor, and this bag looks great even when off the bike. To be fair though, if you go around with the harness clipped while not on the bike you do look like you might launch into orbit at any moment.
TL; DR: Pros: Solid, lives up to/exceeds expectations, sturdy, secure. Cons: You might look like a spaceman if you walk around with the harness clipped in.
Yes, I recommend this product.
