Beck's Reviews

Dainese New Drake Air Textile Pants Drake pants will surely interest anyone who loves to ride his or her bike especially in the warmer months without wearing a suit or leather pants in order to obtain the protection required. These previously contrasting needs have now been perfectly reconciled by Drake fabric pants. Ample air vents in fretted fabric with closing on the thighs permit fresh air to enter during riding for cooling relief on even the hottest days. When temperatures begin to drop, the air vents can be closed. Safety is guaranteed by removable composite protections in the knee and shins, while extra-strength Cordura 750 fabric offers protection in case of fall. The elastic inserts in the knee optimize the wearability of the article, which is equally suited to metropolitan motorcycle use. Features Removable composite protectors. Cordura fabric 750. Suretta fabric. Perforated fabric. Insert in elasticated fabric. Soft inserts. Calf zip. Jacket-trousers fastening system. Adjustable waist. Sanitized lining.

I'm 6`0 210lbs but i have rather large thighs being a bicycle rider. The 52s did not fit but thanks to revzilla's awesome exchange/return policy i returned the 52s hassle free and ordered the 54s which fit much better.
As others have mentioned the area around the knees was a bit tight but stretched out a bit overtime. These vent ok - not great - in 90 degree weather my legs were hot - but would have been hotter in kevlar jeans for sure.
Odd thing with the full zip on the pants - i have a astars jaws leather jacket and an astars viper air textile jacket - both with similar zippers - on the 52 pair - they zipped up no problem - they will not zip up on the 54 pair i got.
Other than that - they fit well - armor in all the right place and they look great. Overall - i'm happy with this purchase.
Yes, I recommend this product.

After buying a pair of icon hooligan jeans and being disappointed i decided to upgrade to a pair of these.
overall the fit is less baggy (straight leg) and they fit well (i'm 6`0 205lbs and the 34" fit me well - no need to roll them up).
The knee protection is great but unlike the hooligans that feature a zip on the jean to easily take them out - you have to turn the pants inside out to get these out of the Astars. This is a draw back if you want to wear these anywhere and not look like a super moto hero once you get off your bike.
The kevlar protection seems to be of good quality (i have not been down on these so can't speak to how they hold up). The hip protection is a complete joke on this pair though. I do think revzilla accurately talks about this - but don't expect to get much from these hip inserts - i countered this by wearing a pair of dianese hard shorts with these jeans - i like this combo).
Overall great jean, not too hot - even in the hot summer months and they look great on or off the bike.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I got the gold mirror finish and it looks freaking awesome. The clarity and optics on the inside turns everything a slightly blueish tint but everything is crystal clear and little distortion.
My only complaint is that i wish the lens was actually darker, in direct sun, i still squint which is a downgrade from my previous mirror visor on a different brand helmet.
The pro to this is that you can use the visor in more varied lighting conditions - it will likely be sufficient for bright days but also on cloudy days so you will have to swap it out less.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Shoei Qwest Solid Helmet The Shoei Qwest Motorcycle Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, optimizing fit for comfort and protection and lowering noise levels to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest helmet is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the faceshield by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide viewport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you. Aerodynamic Shell Design Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds Ventilation System Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions Easy to operate large lower intake vent Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust Breath guard and chin curtain are included Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+) High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient Interior 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance Eyeglass-compatible interior Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. I had a fulmer helmet before this and it was my first helmet. I ride a naked bike and the wind noise was intolerable. The Fulmer helmet was a medium and after a few weeks of riding ending up being way to wobbly on my head.
With that in mind i started looking for an upgrade and was told to buy the qwest given it's riding position on my SV650 and it's fit.
I went with a small instead of the medium which was very tight at first but i was told that it would break into almost a medium. Given my fitted hat size is a 7 1/4 i was very nervous about getting a small. The second day i had it i went on a 250 mile ride to break it in - BIG MISTAKE - my head hurt so bad from the pressure of the helmet, i had to stop every 30 minutes to alleviate the pressure on my forehead. At this point i was pretty nervous i got the wrong size.
I decided to wear it in my house from then on when watching TV so i could break it in a bit more in hopes it would fit better. A few weeks later the lid fits like a glove. It's slightly tighter on my head than ideal but id prefer that over too loose. I got a chromatic shield for it which works great and the interchanging system is so freakin easy its ridiculous (my fulmer took 30 min to replace the shield - this takes seconds).
I did think it would be quieter than what it is - but i ride a naked bike so i do push a lot of wind - i feel like no matter what helmet i get im going to experience this. ear plugs take care of any uncomfortable noises with this helmet.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought these for my wife so she had something protective to take the msf course with. She dropped the bike a few times during the course and it landed on her leg. These boots protected her every time and she got up no problem. She won't be riding but they still look good to wear whenever.

Bought one of these for me sv650 and my buddies 1500 kawi cruiser.
Medium fit mine fine and xl fit his with saddle bags and all.
Material seems thin so I'm a bit skeptical about durability. But a month I'm, both are holding up fine.

As the video review states this jacket has a very short torso. I'm 6'0 205lbs and the size 44 fits me well with the waste straps tightened all the way. I use the button latch on the back of the jacket to attach to my jeans which keeps the jacket in place, however, it's attached to the mesh lining so not sure how durable this will be long term.
Otherwise padding is ok for the price level, I upgraded the back protector to a Knox tp2 and am much happier with that.
Ventilation wise this thing is awesome. Obviously at a stand still it's hot but as soon as you start moving it's like wearing a t shirt. I'm talking feeling cool even when it's 90 out. Excellent ventilation.

Fit is true to size. I'm 6ft 200lb and the 34" waist fits like a glove. Reflective cuffs are great and removable knee pads are a great added feature. 2 things I will say I wish were better. You do get ample leg room but on a standard bike after awhile the back of your knees hurt from the jeans rubbing against them (due to the knee pads). They are also hot as sin in the summer.
Other than that great pair of pants that will give you better protection than simple jeans.
