Got these boots as I wanted something full protection, that didn't look too crazy under a pair of riding jeans.
First of all, I wear 10.5 in Nikes, and I measure 10.5E on a brannock device (Standard foot measuring device found at all shoe stores), and got the size 45 recommended on the size chart which fits perfectly. The 'E' in that measurement means I have a slightly wider foot than average, but this boot doesn't feel tight for me unlike another certain italian brand.
Looks excellent. The silhouette is like a standard boot, rather than a bulky 'tacticool' or power ranger boot. Full height, but the top is low profile enough to fit under my slimmer fitting riding jeans. Aside from a bit of accordion stretch panel, and the shift panel (left side only thankfully), they look like a regular pair of black leather shoes once under jeans. See the attached picture
Protection feels solid. Lacks inside malleolus protection, but this area is unlikely to strike the ground in an impact. The exterior malleolus is hard aluminium which is nice. Heel and toe are rigid but not uncomfortable, and the sole is stiff through the mid and rear, with a bit of flex at the toe area (perfect design IMO). Very little flexibility left/right which is great. Reflective logos on heel are a nice touch. Overall the protection COULD be more heavy duty, but it would come as a sacrifice to comfort and aesthetics.
Very comfortable on the bike. The sole has enough grip to not slip when you put your foot down, but unlike a heavy duty lug sole, it's easy enough to move your foot around on the pegs. The shift panel on the left boot lines up perfectly with my shifter. The accordion stretch panels are in the perfect positions (you can see them flex when you move your foot).
I have no problem wearing these all day off the bike either. The inner liner is soft, which means you DONT need to wear high socks. They're easy to take on and off thanks to the single big velcro and heavy duty zip, but no chance of losing them in an accident.
At some point I may put a superfeet inner sole in, but it doesn't need it right now.
It's summer here in Australia, and i rode in 35 degree C temps yesterday (100ish F). The boots were warm, but not bad. I'm happy to ride in them year round. Obviously a really well vented boot won't be waterproof, but these are gore-tex so it's the best compromise.
Overall the quality and attention to detail is really high. Definitely going to be a long lasting pair of boots. One of the features that was important to me is the fully replaceable sole, which means a much longer service life for a small investment.
I'm really happy with these boots even with the high price tag. I wish I'd spent the extra from the start rather than wasting $150 on a crappier pair from another brand which I'm not likely to wear again.
Obviously these aren't your track day boots, but I wouldn't hesitate to wear them on a round the world trip (one day.)
Yes, I recommend this product.
