I purchased the Icon Patrol gloves, to wear as cold/wet weather commuting gloves. I live on the west slope of the Colorado Rockies and commute April through November. I wanted a glove that would keep my hands warm on the cold mornings, and dry during wet weather.
These gloves are very similar to a ski-type glove, with a longer gauntlet. The protection seems as if it would be adequate to prevent some injuries- won't provide enough protection during serious impacts. However, the gloves seem heavy duty, look great and provide overall good dexterity. However.....
The thumb length is a little ridiculous. I understand that the gloves have an outer shell, thermal liner/waterproof liner and then an inner liner....but it would seem as if Icon could make a little more effort to trim the material down in the end of the thumb. I have big hands, and got the XL. There is at LEAST a 1/2" of extra material beyond my thumbs. This is really the only bad thing I can say about these gloves.
Great job Icon, but trim the thumbs down a bit!

I was looking for a jacket that would serve my riding from April through November in western Colorado. I wanted versatility, comfort, warmth and waterproofness- all in one jacket. I also wanted a jacket that was great looking, and did not remind me of the turnout coat I wear at work. I settled on the Icon Patrol jacket. I chose this jacket because of it's style, the ability to remove the thermal liner without sacrificing it's waterproofness, and the reviewed comments about its comfort. I find the jacket to have plenty of length in the sleeves, shoulders and chest. I'm a pretty big guy at 6'3" and 260, so I went with the 3XL. The only comment I have about size, is it is just a little bit too tailored for me around the midsection....though that could be my fault.
The fit and finish is flawless. I was a little disappointed when I found a loose thread, but it was simply loose and in the stitching, and not a problem at all. The inner liner is fantastic and the armor is top notch. Though at this price point, I would have preferred to see the upgraded back armor.
Overall, I think this is an incredible value for the price. So many top shelf features found on others like Klim and BMW gear, at a better price....with better styling.
