read a few comments about the fit being bad, but mine was spot on. went on a 2011 bell star carbon and fit perfectly. i got the dark smoke and it seems about as dark as my other visors. i compared em last night in my house and i rode with it this morning, haven't compared beyond that. ride home today should reveal more about that. but i expect it to be similar. def wouldn't go light, but i've always had dark. even at night. there's only a few, very few, situations where i have to pop the visor cuz it's too dark. and that's only when i'm riding on back roads that aren't well lit, which isn't often. other than that, normal street lights offer plenty of light to be able to see perfectly fine at night. i considered the solfx lens, but i don't like riding with clear lenses. plus it's 3 times the price almost. good visor, no complaints.

to be more clear, this is a review of the 2011 carbon cerwinske(2010 shape). but according to videos, the only difference is an updated internal shape and upgraded padding. first things first, the helmet bag is an awesome touch. no other helmet that i know of does this, and it's nice. the next thing i noticed was how bulbous the helmet is. it was big and round. my other helmets(shoei rf1000 and ogk ff5) have a more ovaly shell and were smaller in every dimension. the shell on the star was large and round, which looked somewhat odd. now it makes for a large head opening, so on/off was super easy. especially with earbuds or earplugs if you wear those. and the liner is superb. it's a very supple suede and so comfy when wearing the helmet. when removing helmet the cheek pad rolls and scratches your skin due to the top face not being suede, but being a textile mesh type material. i would love to see the suede cover this area as well to make removing a little more comfortable. i love the magnetic strap. although the edges on the dring are a little sharp, making it more difficult to operate. keeps it secure, but a little tricky to work with. the visor is amazing. it seals about as perfectly as you can expect. the last inch of closure snaps closed very positively and securely. changing visors is even easier than my ogk, which is quite the accomplishment. arai should be ashamed of their system. the ventilation is up to what u read. weight was similar to my other helmets. the stability is noticably better than my current helmets. there's no pull in any one direction, whether popping up from a tuck or looking to the side. i'm guessing the shape accomplished this. either way, high speed stability is impressive. the helmet isn't heavy, but it definitely isn't light. feels about the same as my shoei, and a little heavier than ogk. i was surprised cuz i expected a fully carbon fiber helmet to be lighter. but that's ok, being able to see the cf pattern in the helmet is pretty nice. no regrets getting this over the suomy i was looking at that was over 200g lighter.

I want the cool mirror look but without any tinting?
Which color shield would best provide that? I bought the bell revolver and it has an internal sun visor and I ride a lot during night time and would just like a cool mirror look without any additional tinting(or VERY low)
the best you're gonna find is the light silver iridium(or gold or blue). it'll have a little tint, but will be fine at night. i use dark smoke and ride at night all the time. iridiums are usually a little lighter than their non iridium cousin. so a light iridium will be lighter than a light smoke, typically. the only time a dark smoke is too dark is in middle of night with no street lights, no other cars, and no moon. so it's rare. i think a light tint should be good for you.

Rain X
Is Rain X safe to use on these visors? I have the clear that came with my helmet and a transitions visor as well. I live in a place that rains quite a bit. I'd like to use a product like Rain X but I've read that it could possibly damage or make the visor brittle. Do you know if Rain X is safe to use on these? If not is there a product that is safe to use?
it says on the plastic film covering the visor to not use that kinda stuff. that it'll remove the antifog and antiscratch coatings. so i wouldn't. i never have in the past and all i did was turn my head side to side while riding and it'll blow the rain off. works well enough. u could try it on the clear to see what it does before trying it on your transition one.
