First off I havn't ridden with the pants yet but my first observations find the pants to be quite comfortable. I am 5'11" 205 lbs and have 34 waist. I ordered the XL and was able to get them over jeans comfortably. I can only see a few things that would be nice to have. Better venting or venting at all and some reflective stripping. Other than that great bang for your buck.

I ordered these pants using the sizing guide provided. I am 5'11", 205lbs and normally wear a 34x32 jean. I figured the large would be a good fit as most larges in clothing do fit me.
I was a little surprised when even with all the liners out I could barely get my legs to the bottom of the pant legs. There were so tight through the legs they were usless to me.
I have since sent them back and instead of gambling on a xl to fit I have exchanged them for a Joe rocket pair in XL. We'll see how that goes. As for the rest of the pant, they appeared to have ample features and the quality was top notch. Can't say how they were on a bike or course but they looked good.
I would reccomend this product if you have very skinny legs.

Is there enough space inside of the pants to use them as an over-pant for all season commuting as well?

In my opinion no, not even close. With both liners out in a large I was barely able to get them on and Im not a big guy. 5'11", 205lbs usually wear a 34x34 jean.
