Sidi Cobra Boots The patented and trademarked Vertebra System protects the riders Achilles tendon. Thermoplastic resin ankle protection. Bolt on (no Velcro!) replaceable, adjustable and aerodynamic nylon scuff pads on the toe. Composite inner sole. Removable arch support. Nylon shin deflector plate. Lorica outer construction. Double stitched in all high stress areas. All bolt on parts are replaceable. An elastic panel adjacent to the entry zipper allows a bind free zip and improved fit. Dual compound sole. DuPont polymer toe shift pad. Perforated Teflon treated nylon lining. Replaceable shock absorbing heel cup. Padded Achilles area.

These boots have exceeded my expectations for an entry level race/ road boot. When I went looking for boots in this price range, I was fully expecting to find boots clad in faux plastic trim (claiming to be protection), and this was the case for many I looked at. But after examining the Sidi Cobra, I was surprised at the amount of detail and safety put into this product. It supplies some of the safety features provided on a pro race boot with the comfort of a regular shoe (for standing or walking). The Cobra is perfect for the over enthusiastic road rider, without being over-kill. My only complaint is, they run a little large- I wear a US size 12.5 (Euro size 47) , and ended up buying the Cobra in a US size 11.5 (Euro size 46)- so beware when purchasing online!

what boot do you think I should get?
I cant decide whether to buy the Alpinestar SMX-5 or the SIDI Cobra, looking for comfort when walking and protection- thx
I was actually considering both of these models myself and ended up going with the SIDI Cobra. The Cobra seemed to be of a much higher quality (build wise) than the A-stars S MX-5, and seemed to be more comfortable as well. It also has replaceable screw on protectors which the S MX-5 does not. The only thing is the Sidi boot seems to be sized a little larger and wider than the A-stars model (so this is something to be considered). -I've tried both and prefer the Sidi
