I just took my first ride with the Patrol Waterproof gloves and I'm impressed. It was low-thirties and given the following: a) I ride a naked SV650, b) I have no hand-guards or heated grips.. These gloves kept me reasonably warm. Being on a naked bike really put these gloves to the test and honestly, the conditions outside and my bike set-up are not what I consider to be reasonable for any decent distance or commute. With a properly set up bike (windscreen, heated grips) these gloves will be excellent and great for different road conditions. I wont be riding through too much 34 degree weather, but these will be great for any rainy mornings and the cold, elevated mountain roads... oh man, I'm getting excited already!!! I am planning a cross-country trip for spring 2013 and these gloves will be coming with me... :) The SV's for sale.... need that FZ1 I got my eye on...
The fit is true to size, it may seem a little tight at first but just like most equipment that stretches out over time, a little tightness when brand-new tends to end up being a perfect fit once broken-in. Plus it is only tight in the finger tips when trying to fully extend your hand. However, when wrapped around the handle-grips, the gloves are awesome! I had full control over my throttle and clutch despite the relative bulk of these gloves. Some other reviewers have mentioned that the thumb and pinky finger are long on these gloves. I noticed this when wearing them off the bike, however, when I began to ride it seems that the extra space in those areas helped reduce the restrictive feeling when reaching for clutch or front brake and/or twisting the throttle. In other words, it may be an intentional (if not slightly goofy at times) design characteristic. Or, I'm just imaging all of this. But to me, it is more important how they feel when operating the bike and I was very happy with the results.
The thumb squeegee is well placed and on the proper hand (front brake side), and it is a welcomed feature for inclement weather, which is bound to happen sooner or later.
Being a skier, I hate gloves that are difficult to put on once the first glove is put on.. (got that?) In sensible terms, its basically easy to get the other glove on over your jacket sleeve and secured "airtight" while using a ICON patrol glove. Rather wieldy gloves indeed, considering these are cold weather and water-proof.
The reflective material is very effective and will definitely increase visibility, and it looks cool, which is a plus.
I am confident that these gloves will get me through the cold and wet conditions that will be faced, undoubtedly. No, I can't personally speak for the water-proofing of these gloves, however, the various websites where reviews like this are available seems to point in the right direction, which is that they are close to 100%. For $75, I'm happy with the purchase and it held up to a tough test that it won't really ever see again.. But, honestly, if you are going to ride the cold, cold weather you need more than good gloves, yet the Patrol's are a welcomed part of the overall set-up for long-distance/inclement weather riding. You may find warmer gloves somewhere, or ones that have a little zipper pouch that can take a hand-warmer or something or get heated linings, but you would most likely lose mobility and have more bulk in the design. I think ICON hit a good balance.

Is the liner removable?
Some "buyer" reviews of these gloves state that the insulated liner can be removed. Is this the case?
Insulated liner is non-removable. I would suggest really measuring your hand and following the fitment guide. My hand size fell at the top end of the medium sized glove range and it fits securely and I could put a thin insulating liner underneath if I had to. I felt that I would rather err on the side of being a little tight at first and let the glove break in than just barely fitting into the next size up. I feel that I have excellent control over the bike and can stretch my hand to reach the controls without any excess bulk.
