I spent several months looking for a new set of boots to both ride in, and wear at the destination. After buying several other types and styles and being disappointed… I did more research by reading many reviews here at RevZilla and elsewhere, and I decided to try out the S&S Hard Knock boots.
Like others have mentioned, the size does run a bit big, but not by that much. I have a wide foot and wear a typical US 8.5 size. I order a size 8.0 and at first, it was a bit snug. I wore the boots non-stop for about a week to try and break them in. This worked out really nicely as they stretched out and broke in to become one of the most comfortable boots I've ever owned.
I've pushed the soles in both wet and dry riding, and they haven’t slipped yet, holding on even some of the oiliest roadways where my other boots have slipped in the past. The laces and buckle hold the foot nicely inside. Others have mentioned the plastic buckle, but I see the buckle lasting longer than the boot’s sole in most circumstances.
Airflow is fairly minimal compare to other boots I've had, but these boots also feel A LOT more solid than some of the others I've owned – including both slip-ons and laced. So in all fairness, I would rather have a warm protected foot, than wear a boot that could breathe and come off.
Needless to say, after months of searching, I've found my new boot. I've very happy with these, and when they wear out, I’ll be looking to get another pair.

What material are the lower eyelets?
Are they leather or a textile?
The eyelids are textile sewn into several layers of leather. They feel pretty sold, I don't see where they would break free easily.
