I recently purchased the Dainese Gator Evo Gore Tex Jacket and am very pleased with the purchase. The construction quality of this jacket is truly excellent, where it tends to have a 'European' tailored look and feel to it. I am 6'2", 175 pounds. I ordered a size 54, where it fits very well. The jacket was a bit snug at first due to the stiffness of the Cordura fabric. However, as the coat has broken in, the fit has become excellent. The elasticized fabric around the shoulders and above the elbows allows moving in this jacket to be very easy. The armor in the shoulders, elbows, and forearms is outstanding and lightweight. I have ridden in the rain a couple of times, and the Gore Tex lining kept me very dry. The removable insulated liner is very easy to take out and put back in. I have found this liner to be very warm so far, riding in temperatures as low as 38° F around Lake Tahoe, Luther Pass, Sonora Pass, and Tioga Pass (Yosemite) in the Sierra's. I prefer snaps over Velcro straps, and the Gator Evo has plenty of snaps...at the end of the sleeves to cinch sleeves around wrists or gloves (the end of the sleeves also have zippers that run up the sleeves about four to five inches), pockets (plenty of very adequately sized waterproof pockets), down the front of the jacket, and around the collar. There is an extra flap of Cordura/Gore Tex fabric along the front zipper, providing additional wind blockage when needed, as well as another barrier to rain. The removable collar is very comfortable and padded, where the padding around the neck blocks out the cold wind. The exterior of the jacket's collar can be cinched down if needed. This jacket blocks any wind from reaching your body, making it ideal for cooler weather riding. The ventilation in this jacket is minimal, but I knew that when I purchased the jacket for Fall, Winter, and Spring riding. There are only two zippered vents on the shoulders that allow air to flow against the Gore Tex lining, not directly on the body. However, so far, I have found the venting to be more than adequate when the temperature warmed up into the upper 60's to low 70's (while moving down the road). If you are looking for a higher end non-leather jacket, I highly recommend the Dainese Gator Evo Gore Tex Jacket. This jacket is a touring jacket, where the length of the jacket is longer, it falls several inches below the waist, just above the crotch (see photo).
I will be ordering the Dainese Street Tracker Gore Tex Pants once they become available in my size. Even though the Dainese products I have ordered, and will order, are quite expensive, I am a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for'. I have found all of the Dainese products I have received to be of the highest quality and will get many years use out of the products.
I ride a 2012 Honda Interstate cruiser (see photo). I enjoy riding the roads throughout the Sierra Range, and to areas throughout the Great Basin east of the Sierra's.
I have found the customer service at RevZilla to be truly outstanding, which has definitely helped in my becoming a repeat customer.
Yes, I recommend this product.
