The original units have a fixed mic. With my Modular Helmet the mic kept getting caught when I brought the face shield down into position. Mostly this is because the mic had to be routed from the outside of the helmet to the inside. With this mic, that is mounted inside the helmet. The mic is routed to the inside and does not interfere with the face shield coming down into place
Yes, I recommend this product.

This was a nice upgrade to our GMAX 44S helmets. It mimics our Nolan 102's and it actually covers more of the face shield than the Nolans. But you need a degree in Mechanical Engineering to install it correctly. There are no directions supplied with the shield. You absolutely need to replace all the existing components that come with the shield, contrary to some reviews here. Once you install the the correct parts, the sun shield will in fact ride on the detentes and will allow you to position the sun shield at different positions as needed.
Yes, I recommend this product.

How thick is the wired NON- boom mic?

I want to make sure the wafer mic is thin (dimensions please) enough to fit on the fixed chin bar in front of my mouth without me kissing it. Is it held on with skicky velcro also? Thanks n8
The mic measures about .25 inches in thickness. It is held in place by velcro mounted to the inside of the face shield. The mic has the velcro already installed (part of the thickness measurment above)

does this have a port to plug in a mp3 player ipod

There is a MP3 Port on the unit. This unit is the same as the 301 except the mic is detached.

Double Lens version?

I see that there's also a double lens version of this shield that addresses fogging. Does Revzilla offer the double lens version as well?
The double lens version was installed on our GMAX 44S helmets, You will need to drill out the Holes where the shield pivots to pass the screws through to the sun shield, but it will work.
