I like the layers to these pants. I took off in the morning on a ride along the Mississippi river and it was 39 degrees - had all 3 layers in. Stopped for breakfast and by 11 am it was on its way up to 80 degrees - I took the insulating and rain layers out and was very comfortable riding. One small issue I have encountered is the knee protection makes my right knee sore. I am not sure what the issue is exactly since it is only on the right side and not the left. I put 650 miles on in a 3 day ride and did 400 miles of back road cornering and relatively aggressive riding. Otherwise a good pair of pants for the money.

I bought this helmet because I wanted a modular helmet and a 3/4 helmet and this fills both of those needs in 1. I like the peripheral vision it allows, much better than my previous HJC helmet (it is old). My only small complaint is that the venting causes quite a bit of wind noise inside the helmet. I found myself closing the vent on the top of the helmet because it got annoying at highway speeds. To remedy or deal with this I would open the mouth vent and the rear exit vent and leave the top vent closed. Otherwise I am liking the helmet a lot. I have not yet pulled off the chin bar to convert it into a 3/4 helmet as the weather has turned in Wisconsin and will have to wait until next summer to try out that feature.

I bought this boot just prior to a fall ride along the Mississippi river in Wisconsin. I wanted a boot that provided good protection and warmth for a reasonable price. I put on 650 miles in 2 1/2 days with temperatures ranging from a morning low of 39 degrees and a high of 80 degrees. It did the job with ease. I also walked about 2 miles in the boot at one of our stops and it did not feel out of place and awkward looking and my feet were comfortable at all times. I can definitely recommend this boot for a great buy in this price range.

Are the knee pads adjustable? Are you able to put these pants on over boots or are the leg zippers too short?

Are the knee pads adjustable? - Not really. They are located in "velcro Pockets", but do not have any way from the factory to keep the knee pads in a specific location. If a person were to go to the trouble of installing velcro to the pads it could be accomplished, however the pockets do not allow a significant amount of area to relocate them.

Are the zippers big enough to pull the pants over boots? - No. The zippers are probably not the issue, however the pants taper relatively tight around the knee area and it would be impossible to get them on or off over a pair of boots.

Are you able to upgrade any of the padding, specifically in the hips?

The pad areas are in "velcro pockets", so they are removable and therefore you could put in upgraded ones. There are no pads in the hip area, but there is the "velcro pockets" in place ready for you to add whatever level of protection you are looking for.

How loud is this helmet?

I have a transformer style helmet from another brand. I find it to be excessively loud. It caused me to buy $60 earplugs that only help a little. Even when it is fully closed up, the wind thumping against my ears is terrible, so I don't wear it anymore.

How loud do you find the EXO900 ?
I have only put on about 750 miles while wearing this helmet. I do find it to be louder than my conventional full face helmet. I would also be curious as to the noise levels of other companies helmets and what can be done to bring the decibels down. I put on 650 miles in 3 days and it is not bad enough to make me stop wearing the helmet, but I do wish it was not so loud.
Good luck to you on this issue.

Does the TCX X-5 have a removable insole?

Yes it does. I wear orthotics so this feature was important to me. It removes easily and can be put back in easily as well. Hope this helps.

How warm is this boot?

I am looking for a winter boot that I can keep my toes from freezing up and going numb. How cold can this boot be comfortably used? I am in Surprise, AZ and get temps down to the 20s at times in the winter. I also occasionally go to Prescott and Flagstaff where temps are much lower.
I ordered a slightly larger size so I could wear a heavy sock for cold weather riding. Morning low of 39 degrees and my feet never felt the least bit chilled at all. I know that is not down to the 20 degrees that you are expecting to ride in on occasion, but I believe that with the right socks it is very reasonable to expect that this boot would do the job. Hope this is helpful.
