U-CLEAR HBC200 Force Bluetooth Communicator New for 2012 and featuring Boomless ABF Technology, UCLEAR HBC200 Force introduces Super Group Intercom and Multi-Hop technology, specifically designed for group communications with full duplex intercom. Multi-hop technology, used in military tactical communications provides superior sound quality and connection stability over Bluetooth intercom systems that suffer from interference and are line of sight dependent. By incorporating Multi-hop technology, each Uclear HBC200 control unit works as a repeater or relay station, enabling the network to grow as more control units/riders are added to the group. Depending on riding conditions, the intercom range between two riders is up to 700 meters. Adding a third unit/rider increases the intercom range up to an additional 700 meters. Add a fourth rider and the entire group can communicate up to 2100 meters (1.3 miles) in full duplex intercom mode. Features Music, Calls, GPS (Bluetooth devices) Super Group Intercom (Full Duplex 4 riders) Multi-Hop Communication Extender (up to 700 meters between units or 2100 meters (1.3 miles) between four units.) Voice command for hands-free call pickup Hi-Fi stereo audio (AVRCP, A2DP) Boomless microphone (Industry first) Patented ABF / DSP technology isolates your voice and eliminates all background noise Firmware upgrades available Auto loudness adjustments GPS device compatible (Bluetooth HS/HFP profile required) Easy installation on any helmet including full face or 3/4 helmets One year manufactures warranty

I bought this product mainly to listen to my music on my iPhone and talk on the phone while I'm riding. It works very good for both!! The only reason I say it's not excellent is at speeds over 80 mph the sound quality for phone conversation goes down. I have a shoei QWEST helmet and all people who have shoei or are true shoei lovers REMEMBER * the inside lining on the back of the helmet does not come out. So you will have a small amount of the wire showing running to the other side of the helmet. I just took a razor and and cut a piece of electrical tape in half and placed it over it. It's not nessary if you make sure the wire is tight but I does make it look more clean if you do it right. All in all I really love this product. I tired my buddy's older model and it didn't really feel as durable as the 200 model. I love how it also doesn't have a boom. Anyone who has had a boom mic will definitely appreciate the technology this uclear has. Great product!!!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Are 2 Scala g9 units required for rider to passenger communications?

Yes you do need 2 units to communicate to your passenger. They offer the 2 pack bundle on revzilla if you like that unit. The 2 biggest things I would recommend you thinking about is do u want a boom or not?(a boom is the mic that wraps around from the unit and sits in front of your mouth) And how much do u want to spend. The 2 best companies are Uclear and Scala. The biggest difference is the boom. Uclears mic is built into the speakers and scalas is not.Depending on what kind of helmet you own and your personal peference. I would suggest looking at both before u make the decision.

Does the U-Clear HBC200 include vox activated comm whereas the 100 did not?

The 200 model is not like your iPhone if u have one and you can NOT link it up with Siri. All you can do is say "answer" when your listening to music to answer the phone. You can link it up with more the 1 person which is a huge plus to the 100 series. Also I like all 3 buttons control your music volume and music shuffle.
