I bought these after recovering (4+ weeks) from a severely scraped knee cap. I rather spend the time to put up these knee protectors under my jeans than to have to deal with an open wound again.
They fit fairly well under regular jeans, and didn't give me any trouble on even a few longer trips. You wouldn't wear them at the office all day long, but they are easy to put on or take off.
Fortunately I haven't had the chance to try their crashworthiness.

Can these be worn over jeans, rather than under?
I'd like not to have to take off my pants to remove my knee armor. Can these be worn over jeans?
In theory you could. The straps are long enough. They look weird though on top of your jeans, but that's just an aesthetics issue...
