This is the second pair of Klim Traverse pants I have purchased this year. The first pair was for my 11,000 mile Texas/Arctic round trip. I was so impressed with the pants, I bought a pair for my son when I got home.
The pants performed exactly as advertised. I went down on the Dempster when I lost control in some deep gravel just north of Fort McPherson. The bike was pretty banged up and I limped around for a day or two, but, except for the dust on my pants, you would never know I was wearing them when I slid a couple hundred feet down the road :) Of course, as any good mother would do, I promptly ordered another pair for my dirt-bike riding son when I got home.
They are tough as nails, but they are warm. I did manage to wear them daily through temps ranging from 117F to 42F and I have to say, they felt much better at 42F than at 117F. However, as long as you are moving and wear the proper wicking underwear, they are bearable in even extreme heat. The one and only time they failed to keep me dry was when we were caught in a torrential hail and rain storm as we rolled into Calgary, AB. In all honesty, I have never seen rain fall at that rate ever in my life...it was epic. Every piece of waterproof gear we were wearing failied that day. I wore the pants in the rain before and since with no issue.
The fit is kinda quirky. I had the issue of trying to buy men's pants to fit a female body...always a pain. And even though I ordered my son's exact pant size, these were too tight. Then next size up was a perfect fit. He is tall and slender. The great folks at Revzilla were awesome about the exchanges (both times) and the replacements arrived quickly. Using the online return system made it painless.
I definitely recommend these pants without reservation!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Can you use the standard Klim suspenders with the Traverse?

Not exactly. I ordered the suspenders before checking to see if there were any built-in loops. There are none on my Traverse pants, however I managed to make the suspenders work by using the inside back loop and the belt in the front. I am going to have loops added because I love the suspenders AND the pants.

These suspenders were definitely NOT made for a short-waisted body...I have them taken up ALLLL the way, and they're still not tight. I still like the way they work and even after the expense of having them and the pants altered for the loops, I consider them a good purchase.
