Zoomie's Reviews

The Ride New Custom Motorcycles and Their Builders The Ride book explores motorcycle riding as it is meant to be as a means of getting around with attitude, as an extension of ones own body, as an expression of personal freedom, but also as a significant challenge to technical expertise, craftsmanship, physics, discipline, and driving skill. The Ride features transformations such as a boring plastic motorcycle made in Japan in the 1990s turned into a slick caf racer with an Italian feel, a soulless neo-baroque machine turned into an in-your-face scrambler, or an old find from grandpas barn turned into a absolutely comfort-free hardtail with the coolest of sounds. Featuring extensive profiles of pioneers including Walt Siegl, Wrenchmonkees, DP Customs, Deus, Shinya Kimura, and Uwe Ehinger. Editor Chris Hunter runs the motorcycle website Bike EXIF , the world's most popular showcase of custom bikes, with millions of pageviews every month and a passionate global following. Hunter has traded the bright lights of London and Sydney for the solitude of rural New Zealand, where the lack of decent broadband is made up for by magnificent riding roads. Editors Chris Hunter, Robert Klanten Release Date August 2013 Format 30 x 27 cm Features 320 pages, full color, hardcover, landscape format

Gorgeous book, really well done. If you like BikeEXIF, just get it. Having this book on the coffee table has started more conversations about riding than anything else. Even my friends and family who think bikes are dangerous and irresponsible will flip through and start talking about the beautiful bikes.

Wish it were included in the high end Alpinestars Jackets, but it's well made, sturdy and well thought out. Seems to be as good as a back protector can get without moving into the Level 2 pieces that don't integrate into the jacket. Put it in my Jaws and am glad to know it's there.

Great construction, hard plastic and foam with good finish. Asymmetric construction seems well thought out and purposeful. Threw them in my Jaws non-perf and haven't thought about them since. They sit a little low, which is probably intentional for freedom of movement and to protect sternum and ribs. They really should be included in a 500 dollar jacket, though. Alpinestars should be embarrassed by the foam placeholders that were in the chest pockets.

I looked to this bag because using the bike for commuting means having a waterproof bag for electronics. It is excellently finished and installs securely. It is hard to cinch down with odd shapes in it, but an extra layer or two of cold weather clothing pads everything up well. I like the removable liner and the dry bag type closure. It has plenty of straps and attachment points on the outside which I can use for almost anything. The only downside I have is that the parts of the straps that attach to the subframe are tan. They look bad on the bike and there isn't any room to tuck them under the seat on my Monster 796.

A simple drop in replacement for your Shoei OEM visor. On the expensive side, but optical quality is good, I trust the protection and changing visors is about as simple as it gets. Dark smoke is great for day riding.

Fits true to size and most of the features are listed in the description or described in the video. Construction is quality, but I do find myself wishing that the leather was thicker or tougher. Not amazingly confident that it is the best protection, especially on the palm. The construction is very good, and the comfort is great. I like how the armor for the knuckles is hinged on the front. The venting works as advertised and my hands are dry each time I take them off. Happy with my purchase, but may move up a price point and see where that leaves me.

Love this helmet. Was torn between medium or large, went with medium and it is perfect. Slightly tight at first, but is certainly breaking in and conforming with no wiggle. Large would have always left me wondering if I was as safe as the smaller size. The vents work great and have a lot of variation to pick from, but in New Mexico summer I haven't even though about closing any. Even on the solid color the finish is very very good. I appreciate the all removable interior that is easy to wash. Wish the included shield was smoked, as it is pretty impossible to wear sunglasses under. A premium product that lives up to reputation and expectations.

Shipping took a little while to get to my military PSC box, but arrived well packaged and with no hassle. The jacket fits high on the waist, which is great for riding but can be a little silly looking as your shirt sticks out from under it. The venting works well at anything better than 35 mph and I am sure would be even better if I could ditch the small back pack i am used to riding with. All the fasteners and velcro is top notch and the included rain liner looks nice, but I haven't used it yet. The collar is comfortable, but I tend to ride with the last inch or two unzipped. The straps that allow you to tighten up and position the armor are a nice touch. I am all around happy with my purchase. Would have liked a safety yellow or orange color so that I could ditch my construction worker vest.
Yes, I recommend this product.
