I purchased the dual pack so that my brother in law and I could communicate on a trip from Connecticut to PEI. We have tried it out several times pre-trip. Everything works really well, here are the specifics:
The Mic is absolutely awesome in quality, no one yet has been able to tell that I am calling them from my motorcycle. Very clear with no wind noise whatsoever.
The Speakers, could be better, but still really good. I use an iPhone and listen to music, it is not as nice as it could be but still clear enough to enjoy my favorite songs.
The Bluetooth device, is also very motorcycle glove friendly, and easily used at highway speeds.
Battery life has been beyond my expectation, after two days of 70 mile round trip commuting both listening to music and using the phone I still have 50% battery left. Will see how it does on the trip in a week and a half...
Overall it is a really good investment, the speakers were not as easy to get situated in the helmet as I would have liked, it took about 30 min or so to get them mounted and wiring hidden in my Shoei Qwest. I just had to be very patient with it as my head liner doesn't come out of the Qwest.(this is more an inconvenience caused by the helmet design rather than the Sena)

Is a cell phone necessary for communication between headsets?
Are the headsets able to communicate directly, like walkies, or do you need a cell phone to connect them?
You don't need to use a cell phone to use the two way comm. feature. IMO though the iPhone is perfect, as I have access to my iTunes and can use the SMH 5 to skip songs and replay them etc... The music automatically fades out when a call comes in either from two way or the phone then automatically kicks in after a few seconds when your conversation is done. Hope this helps!
