ICON One Thousand Rimfire Gloves The Icon 1000 Rimfire is old-world styling, top-shelf materials and cutting edge technology. The Gunn cut pattern imbues the Rimfire with a sophisticated rancher silhouette of years gone by. Constructed of select drum-dyed French cowhide, the Rimfire embodies the meaning of functional elegance. Pre-tensioned elastic in the palm reduces bunching. Integrated D3O knuckle armor and a cadre of metal palm rivets provide a roadworthy pedigree. The Rimfire is a riding glove that captures the fortitude and grace of a more civilized era. These gloves fit true to size based on the Icon sizing chart and are very comfortable - even straight out of the box before break-in.
THINGS I LIKE: Hands stay cool in >90F degree weather, very comfortable, fits very well, unique styling, seems to have sufficient padding/protection in the right places (I only say seem since I have not tested this feature, thankfully), Nomex behind the rivets. So far the rivets have not torn into my grips as some co-riders have suggested they may.
SOME MINOR THINGS I AM NOT KEEN ON: Some of the stitching is coming lose, one of the stamped Icon symbols on the glove is deformed and some of the rivets on the palm have mis-strikes during installation. Loose stitching is easily fixed with a lighter and the deformed symbol? I chalk it up to giving my gloves that additional character. And the rivets with mis-strikes on them? They seem solidly in place so I am not concerned, although they are no longer as smooth due to the indents from the mis-strikes.
CONCLUSION: I would purchase these gloves again, they are a great deal for under $100 glove. Very comfortable and cool, even when approaching triple digit temperatures. As for the flaws, fundamentally, I classify them to be aesthetic in nature and do not believe they diminish the function of the glove; I tend to be more on the practical side of gear, but these gloves DO look great!
I would recommend for the reasons I and others have stated.
