- I found the optional controller pouch is essential to be able to adjust the heat while underway
- The Gerbings connectors can heat up if there is a bad connection. There is a fix for this though. If they heat up you need to split the two halves of the center pin to provide better contact. Call Gerbings tech support for more info.

- well made and very warm
- I replace my jacket liner with the Gerbings liner however below 40F/6C I wear both the heated liner under the insulating jacket liner and jacket over top. This is because the Gerbings liner has very little insulation of it's own and it provides a more even heat this at a much lower setting with the extra insulation

Protection
Heavy Cordura construction gives this what appears to be the best abrasion resistance in this category. at least for jackets <$500 although I have not crash tested it. Armor seems to fit snug and decent quality armor. My other Olympia gear has had great long term durability and stood to abuse better than Rev'It and some other brands I've owned, maybe due to the heavier materials they use.
Airflow
This jacket has really great hot weather airflow (for a zipper vented jacket) and is comfortable up to about 80F, or even hotter, as long as you are moving and not behind a large windshield to allow air to flow air into the jacket.
Fit
With the belt and sleeve tighteners the jacket fit can be customized over a fairly wide range.
Cold Weather
Most people should be comfortable with just a shirt under it down to about ~45F. Much colder than this though and a heated liner or extra insulation will offer an improvement.
Negatives
The water proof liner does not seem as "breathable" as Goretex or the liner material used by Rev'It. This is only really noticeable when you work up a sweat and then get on the bike in cold weather.
In a nutshell this is the perfect all round jacket for 80% of the time. I still prefer mesh gear in hot (above 75F weather) although I love the ability this jacket has to adjust cooling by tweaking the vent zippers which I can't really do with mesh.

Best helmet for a long oval head

If you have a "long oval" (long front to back but proportionally narrower side to side) there is a very limited selection of helmets that fit well. Almost all just compromise with extra thick cheek pads. The Profile is one of the very few, and IMHO the best, long oval fitting helmet. Light weight and comfortable, vents decently well.

I'm average build and find Olympia gear fits very well. This only has 500D Cordura on the contact points, as opposed to the 1500D Cordura Olympia uses in their other jackets so abrasion protection is probably not quite as good. Still very good jacket, at a very good price. Quality and fit is first rate in the price range. Hi Vis looks good and has excellent visability. Good for hot weather. I have an Olympia AST I wear most of the time but this is better for 75+ temps.

Very good abrasion protection for a jacket of this type. Excellent ventilation and very comfortable up to 80F and still wearable in hotter tempatures as long as you are moving to force air through it. With the liner it is as warm as any jacket in winter riding conditions. Without the liner I can feel some dampness from the top of the sleeve zippers on the skin of my bare arms in heavy rain but it does not leak. With the liner this is not detectable - not really a significant issue. The collar fits me fine and keeps out the rain. In my opinion the it has the best combination of performance / $$ in this category.
Pros Great Value, Rugged, Comfortable, Fashionable, well designed

Good rain and cold weather glove

My regular gloves are Cortech Adrenelins in large which fit perfectly. I ordered these in XL and they fit just slighty tight. I have a little loss in dexterity from my non insulated gloves but I guess that is to be expected with any insulated glove. I initially found the inner liner slipped a little inside the glove. After immersing the gloves in warm water while wearing them I found the fit improved and no longer feel the liner slip. Well made. I've riden down to 40F for extended periods. I can feel the cold on the backs of my hands but they still work to keep them warm. 100% waterproof.
Pros Rugged, Comfortable

Gerbing heated gear

Hi, I have a ducati 848Evo, but I plan to ride with it as long as possible (also during the winter ;-) ). I'm very interested in buying the Gerbing Gloves + undervest, but I was wondering if my battery could manage all that powerdeduction during the start up of my bike. Is the battery of the duc 848 strong enough for all that extra equipment? Will it recharge sufficiant or do I need to buy a stronger battery?
gr
Stijn
I would expect you would have no issues if your alternator puts out more than 300watts. I have a Versys with a smaller engine and 300wat alternator and have no issues. The battery has nothing to do with this. It is a factor of the alternator output.

I would however recommend a heated jacket liner with heated collar and sleeves over a heated vest liner. Because it insulates better than a vest it can run at a lower temp setting for less power consumption. It is also MUCH warmer and more practical as you can replace the heated liner in a jacket with it. You can also drastically lower the power consumption of any liner in sub 40F temps by wearing it under your regular jacket liner. A heated jacket liner is also wired for gloves so does not require extra wires in your jacket like a vest does. A heated collar is really helpful in cooler temps.

Snap belt loop connectors?

Does it have snap belt loop connectors?
If it doesn't, how do you connect it to jeans?
In case you don't, will this jacket roll up and leave my back unprotected in case I fall down and will being dragged on the road? ( I am skinny just like the guy on the youtube review here, and it seems the bottom part of that jacket is really loose on him )
Thank you for explanation.
It has the standard zipper that zips to Rev'It and most other gear. It also has two belt loops if you do not have a connection zipper on your pants.

From what I have read, i've not crashed in this jacket, 3/4 length jackets in general have much less of a tendency to ride up due to their increased length and also provide an extra layer of protection over the hips in a slide.
