This is a great product! I'm personally not too impressed with Bell helmets, however, this faceshield is everything you can ask for in a faceshield. It can get really (on the outside) while maintaining darn near clear visibility from the inside. This is a lifesafe/timesaver/spacesaver/hassle free product. Love it, Just wish they made them for other helmet brands!

This my fourth helmet. I have tried scorpions and Icon before this.
Upsides:
-Gets girls
-even though the shell is huge and at the first handling of the helmet it didn't seem significantly light, the weight distribution is very well designed.
-I can do head checks at high speeds like its nothing
-liner is very plush and comfy...but there is a downside to that liner
-Has room for helmet speakers, however, putting on headphones is still a pain and almost not worth it
-Photochromic shield is AWESOME!

-It is pricey, even for a carbon helmet. Should have gone with the Shoei RF1100 #just bang for buck wise)

Durability of shield?
How durable is this shield? The clear shield that came with my RS1 is getting pretty crazy pitted/scuffed after only about 2k miles of riding. I'd love one of these transitions shields but I cannot justify dropping this much if it's only going to last half a year.
Hey, i do some intense riding and so far with only normal care (I'll wipe it down maybe once a week), I am still scratch free. This is a durable shield. It is super thick and not only that, the simple stress savings you get from not having to carry around two shields is a perk. I don't necessarily recommend a Bell Helmet for the money conscious buyer (such as myself, although I just dropped a lot on the Black Beauty carbon RSD), although the price of this shield is definitely worth the bang for your buck. Hope this helps.

What are the differences between the EXO-500 and the 1100?

Hey, I have owned the exo 400 and two exo 700. Great helmets. My cousin bought the 1100 thinking the higher model represented higher quality...not true. Scorpion is a great company btw. But the 1100 is more of a touring style helmet, meant for the upright position. The 500 is meant more for the 3/4 to full tuck position (aka sportier profile). Hope this helps. And if you're in no rush, I would recommend waiting for the s2000 to release this fall. I made the mistake of dropping $800 on a bell RSD black beauty carbon helmet, thinking it would be a HUGE step up from the scorpion, but didn't find that to be completely true. Does this helmet come in any other trim color than green? Red, perhaps...
I might have to swap out my grips, rim tape, and decals... Just so I can rock this Lid!
I've checked high and low, this is the only trim they offer.

what vizor is shown on the model picture?
I know if I order this helmet it will probably come with the standard clear visor but I like the dark tint one shown in the picture.
I believe that is just the dark smoke color. But you have to consider that background lighting and flash makes the biggest difference in appearance for product pictures. I recommend the Photochromic shield. I got one and it changes tint according to temperature, UV light, and one other factor. Definitely better than carrying two shields around.
