The speakers sound way better then the stock ear pieces, but still doesn't satisfy my tastes. I haven't tried other brands and i don't really know what qualifies as "good quality sound" in this department, maybe i was expecting too much from this set, but i think the sound quality is pretty bad. Though the sound clarity and crispness is a huge improvement over the stock pieces, it still falls short of the cheapest headphones you can find. I think Sena should've just shipped the smh5 with these speakers instead of the cheaper ones (my $0.02) because these aren't great. Also, the velcro that is glued to the back of the speaker fell off so i had to glue it back on. All in all, this is a better speaker then the stock ones and they aren't expensive.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Works great if you want to listen to music, but I definitely recommend getting the upgraded speaker because the stock ones are painful to listen to at high volumes. One huge downfall though, is that the speaker plug is easily pulled out of the Bluetooth when your at speeds over 80mph, just from the wind. it's really annoying because trying to plug it back in while your riding is kinda difficult and dangerous if your on bumpy highways.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Is a cell phone necessary for communication between headsets?

Are the headsets able to communicate directly, like walkies, or do you need a cell phone to connect them?
You don't need a cell phone, they can just connect to eachother.
