I just started riding and love it, and have been looking into a bluetooth headset and let me tell you this headset it awesome.
I mainly ride myself and really just wanted to listen to music with it and maybe take a call every now and then. The sound clarity is really good nice crisp notes not much bass but i think that is to be expected with any headset.
The speakers are plenty loud and louder if you want to blow out your ear drums even with my X-12 which has lots of wind noise i hear the music great.
During phone calls I hear people just as great and they also hear me fine cruising at 60mph the only thing my friends said that I kinda sound like I am breathing hard but i think that's cause I'm taking inside my helmet
With his new SMH10 with the universal mic which is really great for full face helmet cause the mic is very small and easily hide the wire and can't be seen from the outside it also includes the option for the boom mic, but i think if you prefer to use a boom mic i would order the older SMH10 with the boom attached this one you kinda use a stick on boom mic and if it was me i think i would like one that was attached to the base module itself or you can also just buy the clamp with the attached boom mic
The only thing i think i would like is to have auto volume adjust where the faster i rode or the more wind noise it picks up the volume would increase and when i slowed down the volume would decrease, but the big jog dial works great as well i can easily adjust the volume with my gloves
I use an iPhone 4S for both music and phone calls, you can also sync up additional devices you can also control the iPhone with pressing the jog dial and other combinations
Rides: 2001 Yamaha YZF-R1
Yes, I recommend this product.

How thick is the wired NON- boom mic?

I want to make sure the wafer mic is thin (dimensions please) enough to fit on the fixed chin bar in front of my mouth without me kissing it. Is it held on with skicky velcro also? Thanks n8
Its very small slightly smaller than a nickel and about as thick as 3 nickels stacked from the base including the sticky velcro, i have a shoei x-12 that i mounted it on and its no wear near my mouth

Compare SMH10-11 to SMH-10

This would be my first motorcycle bluetooth headset and after viewing the reviews on Revzilla it seems that the SMH10 is a favorite and fits my needs. But now there is the SMH10-11 and it hard to tell what was upgraded or changed from the SMH-10 to this model? In other words, what do I get for the additional $15 (dual pack)?
The SMH10-11 includes the universal mic clamp with the flat wired mic and attachable boom mic also not included is the wall charger they just include a the usb cable to connect to you computer to charge but the actual module is the same

So you pretty much just get the universal mic kit which i think is really great for full face helmets cause if gives it a cleaner look bellow is more details from sena

I have a Shoei Neotec & a Schuberth C3W... Would this be a good fit for both, or could I go with the original SMH-10?

I think the original would be better cause the boom is attached to the base clamp but with the newer model it comes with a boom mic that you would attach to the helmet with a sticky pad it would give you a cleaner look because you can attach it under the liner and not have to snake the boom mic around.

Let me know how it works out
