I'll have to agree with other reviews on here. The item serves its purpose well but the magnetic clip needs to be reworked. If you just barely bump the flap the magnet gets knocked loose. It really should be a snap or a good piece of velcro. The controller can't fall out of the case due to the wires passing through it so it's not a danger to the controller. It's more of a nuisance than anything else.

This is a great jacket for more than just summer use. The jacket flows plenty of air with the liner removed. Install the liner and this jacket works well into the 40's. I have not tested the waterproof aspect of the jacket seeing I have designated rain gear I wear over it. That way you're not sweating in the heat having to wear the jacket liner just to stay dry. For me, the size chart worked out well but I do notice the jacket fits a little tight across the center of my back. I'd say if you're right on the high side of the chest size, go to the next size up to avoid this issue.

I bought this mostly for the ability to answer phone calls while riding. I did also use it on a 2000 mile trip this past summer. For starters, I had a hard time loading the latest firmware into the unit which SENA suggests you do before use. The software would not recognize either unit. After swapping cords multiple times I was able to get the firmware upgrade done. I have recently checked for new updates and again, I can't get the software to recognize either unit so I gave up. The helmet mount is so temperamental to screw tightness. If the screws are too loose the mic won't work, if screws are too tight, the mic won't work. I have also not been successful in getting the voice activated intercom to work. Every time I want to start an intercom conversation I need to press the jog dial. The instructions claim you can speak any word loudly to activate, that does not work. As for being able to answer and make phone calls. That feature works good when the mic is actually working. Last time I tried to use that feature the mic wasn't working so I couldn't call out using the voice activation. I had a call come in, once I answered it the caller couldn't hear me due to the mic not working. The unit has SO much potential to be great but they need to iron the bugs out of it. I feel like I'm part of their R&D dept.

I bought this liner to extend my riding season in the Northeast. It suits that purpose very well. The new microwire is amazing, it heats SUPER fast and even. You literally feel the heat in 10 seconds or less. The sizing chart was spot on for me, perfect fit. I was torn on the vest or the jacket, I'm glad I went with the jacket. It's nice to have warm arms as well. I wear a long sleeve T shirt and then the Gerbings liner then my riding jacket. That combo has worked well for me even into the 20's.

Will the Gerbring jacket plug straight into the outlet on my Triumph Tiger 800 by the ignition rather than having to wire it to the battery?
Not it will not plug directly into the outlet next to the ignition. I have the same bike and I just used the supplied harness on the battery. I like the wire coming out near my left knee rather than running across my tank.
