Protection & Durability
The Olympia sizing guide recommended medium for my frame, but the small fits fine. A medium probably would have draped over me like a muumuu. The shoulder and neck area bunches up a little bit when I wear the jacket like a poorly fitted suit jacket, but it's not really an issue.
The velcro neck collar on the Airglide is a bit small, so it doesn't wrap around a balaclava. The velcro wrist straps are different than the zippers I'm use to on my other jackets.
The wind and thermal lining seems to work well. And, them being removable allows me to wear other wind/thermal protection.
Toxic color scheme and clearance pricing were definitely my motivating factors for buying this jacket. Not sure I'd pay the retail price for it, though.
Vemar Eclipse Night Vision Helmet The ultimate in night time high viz, Vemar's Night Vision Helmet gives you that extra sense of security on the road once the sun goes down. The solar rays absorbed during your daytime ride keeps the helmet aglow for up to 8 hours, with the highest intensity being in the first 2-3 hours, with a gradual decrease thereafter. Vemar's proprietary paint formula includes a phosphorescent formula that does not have a lifespan, which means that this helmet will continue to emit light well beyond it's wearable years! Vemar Eclipse Night Vision Helmets are painted with special glow in the dark paint to increase night time visibility. I have the non-glow-in-the-dark version. Beautiful helmet. The helmet feels heavy when you pick it up, but it seems well balanced so I don't really notice when I wear it. The biggest problem is the visor seems to have refraction problems which is most noticeable in low light conditions. Motonation, the US Vemar distributor, has been extremely gracious in sending me a replacement visor, however it suffers from the same problem. I would recommend the helmet except for the clear visor.
For those interested in fit, I also wear the old Arai Vector in large and had to go to an XL in the Eclipse. The old Vector fit me perfectly. The Eclipse not quite as perfectly, but good enough.
