 Dainese Portland 2 Textile Jacket
Dainese Portland 2 Textile Jacket
Sports design and safety matched with elevated comfort levels are the concepts at the heart of the new Portland 2 jacket developed for use in the warmer months thanks to the air inlets in Boomerang mesh and the built-in Shield Air G2 back protector, which together with the removable composite protectors ensures safety in case of fall. The ergonomic design is the result of construction in stretch Mugello fabric that guarantees a constantly tight fit and the possibility to fasten the jacket to the pants by zipper. The liner has been provided with silver ion treatment to keep hygiene levels constantly high. Protection From Shock Removable composite protectors certified to EN 1621.1/97 Standard. Includes Shield Air G2 back protector certified to EN 1621.2/2003 Standard(Lev. 1). Abrasion And Tear Resistance Mugello fabric. Boomerang mesh inserts. Ergonomics Adjustment strap on neck. I've put about 1000 miles on this jacket at the time of my review. It has been comfortable up to 85 degree weather and as low as 60 degree weather without extra layers. I've taken it out in 90 degree+ weather but let's be honest, it's hard to be comfortable at that temperature anyway. The air flow through the underarm and rib-cage is good to keep you cool and dry while moving. Sometimes I unzip the front zipper a little bit to let more air in if it's a really hot day. I went out for a ride with a friend last week. I wore this jacket, he wore a t-shirt. It was 85-90 degrees. We arrived at our venue 6 miles away and he was visibly sweaty. I was dry.
I feel like the price is good for this item because it has a style that is hard to match. Also it comes with that included back protector. If I could make any suggestions to Dainese it would be to maybe add an option to pull more air into the chest area. Also add a pocket for an optional chest protector on a jacket this style. I would generally order a 48 european but I ordered a 50 after watching the video review. I'm glad I did, a 48 would have been a little small. With the 50 I will be able to add a layer for autumn.
Great jacket. I would buy again.
