Got the Scout on recommendation from ADV forum.
I normally wear a 9.5 street shoe, so the recommended size (from Revzilla) was AStar 9.0. I also wear a street AStar boot (can't remember the name) and it matched the recommended 9.0 size.

Got the boots within 5 days of ordering. Put them on and they initially felt a bit tight, but not to the point of jamming the toes. I wore them around the house and they started to fit more comfortably. Needed a bit of adjusting to get the three ratchet straps to be set ideally. Once I knew the size was correct, I took them for a ride.
On my street bike (BMW K1200rs), the gearshift lever needed to be repositioned to fit the boot. Not a problem since the shifter was adjustable. Of course these boots are more designed for a dual sport bike with a more upright positioning, so I then rode my DS (BMW G650x) and no problem with the shifter with either sitting or standing.
I like the stiffness of the footbed. Very comfortable when standing on the pegs. The shell seems reinforced in the right places to protect the ankle and shin.
It's not a full MX boot, so it is a bit more comfortable for all day use. I'm sure it gives up a bit in the protection category, but remember this is a DS boot, not a full MX boot. I think for my type of riding, fire roads and some mild single tracks it will be fine.
I'm in the wet Seattle, so the full waterproofing was a must. I haven't tested it in the rain yet, but looking at how it is designed, I am sure my feet will be dry in even the heaviest rains we get here. My old AStar road boots are Goretex and have never leaked even with only a side zip and velcro closure.
Of course with the waterproofness, the boot does feel warm. Hopefully they will still breath enough, but in our NW climate, it is rarely too hot.

Overall, very happy with this boot. I'm sure in 10 years I will still be happy. The soles are stitched and look easily replaceable when needed. For the price, I think these boots are a steal. Thanks Revzilla.

These Boots measure about 14inches from the ground to the top.

warmth/insulated
i do alot of atv riding in the cold....i was wondering if these were a warm boot....just had a cold foot experience after christmas ride...thanks john
Although I have only had these boots for a month, and also only in the month of June-July. I would say that these boots are warm. I'm not too naturally insulated and usually get cold easily. My feet are quite toasty in these boots.
(Note: I previously had a pair of Goretex Alpinstar Road Boots. They always were warm even when riding in 30-40 degree weather. These boots are thicker and taller and have a very similar feel in terms of insulation quality.) Hope this helps.
