Klim Induction Jacket Klim is known for their legendary, tough and rugged, 100 Waterproof Gore-Tex ADV and Enduro Jackets, but breathability has always been a limitation for those who live in hotter climates. The Klim Induction Jacket combines the same quality 840D Cordura construction used in Klim's Gore-Tex jackets with their latest Karbonite Mesh (750 stronger than polyester or nylon mesh), creating a bomb-proof hot-weather riding jacket that you can rely on. I ordered two different Klim jackets: the Induction and the Apex, and two different Rukka jackets: the Airrider and the Airrock -- to try on all four and ended up choosing the Induction as the best of the bunch. Good news, it was also the cheapest!!!
The good: it fits me perfectly, I am 6'3", 210 lbs with a 46" chest and ape-ishly long arms. Seriously, like a chimp. I have a build like a tall chimp. I just realized that... Anyway, I ordered the XL (in all of them) the and the Induction fit me perfectly right out of the box. It's NOT TOO BAGGY and the flex panels at the shoulder blades offer just the right amount of room for me to reach forward and lean into my Monster S4RS.
The Hi-Viz version looks Bad! in a good way. The mesh in silver looks like freaking knight's armor and the hi-viz is bright as shrt and the silver tape stripes are RACY! It's cut more like a sport-jacket than an ADV outfit, so I don't feel like an old guy riding a BMW when I'm wearing it. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I am kind of an old guy. And I have a BMW, too.
The thing flows air like a ... and it's kind of cool that it comes with a windproof, waterproof, nylon jacket on the inside. Neither the Rukka Airrider, nor the more expensive Klim Apex jacket come with rain protection so it's an added bonus, though it's not Gore-Tex, has no pockets and it's made in Vietnam.
The mesh is CRUNCHY! It is truly gnarly, way bigger and badder than the pajama-textured Cordura AFT in the Rukka gear (massive thumbs down -- I want this to protect me in a high-speed slide on tarmac, not for a sleep-over at Betty Lou's). Klim, you had me at "Karbonite," not that I know what that means. Adding kevlar to this weave probably makes it literally bullet-proof.
The Bad: The whole thing is made in Vietnam. That's kind of a bummer, as I know Polaris owns Klim, and I always think of Polaris as this whole Made-in-America kind of company. I guess that doesn't really matter than much, since I consider myself a pretty global person, and people in Vietnam need jobs too but, somehow I then perceive a lower quality. Am I xenophobic?
The armor is touted as a big deal in the video, but it doesn't feel like a big deal compared to the armor in my Dainese and Alpinestars leathers. Neither did the armor in the other Klim jacket or the Rukka stuff, and maybe this is perception again because it's a lightweight, textile jacket. But the back protector, for instance, doesn't cover all of my back, and there is no chest protection to speak of. Ribs aren't that important to me anyway, I have 12 on each side, right?
I've ordered a stand-alone chest protecter from Forcefield.
Bugs get caught in the silver mesh and I'm sure they'll be a biotch to clean out over time. Also, getting the hi-viz areas at all dirty makes me cringe, and riding motorcycles right means getting everything dirty a lot, but I guess it'll be washable.
Over all, the good outweighs the bad by a long-shot, and it's so cool with the airflow that I'll be choosing this over my leathers all northeastern humid-summer long.
Recommended.

i have found Rev'it pants in the past to be extremely baggy -- airwaves are like ski pants. Even the GT-R track pants are not tight on me. I'm 6'3" and 210 pounds with, admittedly, a bit of a paunch and skinny stems. But Rev'it is also one of the few companies that regularly stocks tall sizes, so I took a chance on these summer leathers.
Hallelujah! I ordered the 54 talls and they are long enough to fit my 34"+ inseam and 34"++ waist (I wear a 34" in Diesel jeans, 36" in J-Crew khakis, if that helps). Best of all, they aren't a baggy, American cut around the legs, but a sportier, slimmer fit. Not tight, mind you, but also not hip-hop or Icon.
The quality seems to be amazing, though I just got them today. The fit and finish, at least, is top-notch and they look extremely protective. As an added bonus, they have a Gore-Tex-type liner that is removable but actually not too hot for the kind of humid and 65-degree weather we're facing today in New York.
I'm very pleased with the purchase, they're the perfect summer leathers and I can hang up my Dainese New Drake Air's that not only slide around the bike like they're doused in lubricant but also seem about as protective as a North Face shell.

and this one isn't. i gave it a five-star rating because it is, without a doubt, the most comfortable boot i have ever worn that also looks to be as durable and protective as well. as a touring boot, it is flawless, unless you count a high price as a flaw. these are not cheap. but you won't ever think about your feet as you ride and they'll do everything you need them to.
fugly, is how i'd describe them, nondescript if i was being kind. these have the same general appearance as the ``italian leather dress shoes'' you would find at payless. but like i said, that's not really important for a touring boot.
i do wish revzilla would sell more daytona boots. i had to order the sport boots from a store in germany, and i would much rather have gotten anthony's take on them. fortunately, they are top quality too. good company.

if i could only have one motorcycle jacket for the rest of my life, this would be it. very easy choice.
it's leather, so i feel totally safe, and it's waterproof, so i can wear it anytime. it's got insulation, so i can wear it in the winter. and it's amazingly breathable -- how's that? it's waterproof? i don't know, but it rules -- so you can remove the liner and ride in the summer.
yes, it is amazingly expensive. i thought about only giving it four stars because of that, but then i realized, this could have been the only jacket i ever bought, i could have saved the money on all of the others (six? seven? in 15 years) and so it would be worth it.
the only drawback besides the price is the stiffness -- it's not *quite* as comfy as my plush dainese d1 or my crashed out alpinestars celer, but it is breaking in over time (i've had it all winter, but just started riding in earnest). let me put it this way, it stands up in the corner on its own, but i wouldn't be scared to crash in it.
except it was so expensive...

these are great, if expensive, gloves for three seasons. they are too warm anywhere above 60-70 degrees, and because they're intended to keep you warm and dry, they don't flow air.
they look fantastically cool, with the carbon fiber knuckles, feel incredibly protective compared to my held and BMW gloves built for the same purpose, and have a pretty spot-on tactile feel, considering they are layered. ( i hate most waterproof or winter gloves because i have long, thin fingers and need that tactile ability, with these i have it. )
the gauntlet is the only problem, the elastic-velcro closure has to be stretched so tight as too restrict movement. as a result, i leave it open -- there is another closure around the wrist that holds the gloves on well, and they're not loose to begin with. i may cut the elastic strap off, but it seems redic to have to do that to $330 gloves.

and i have the one with the big, highlighter-yellow 46 on the front and back, with sweet yellow racing stripes.
the fit is fantastic, even for someone with long arms and a beefy chest. i'm 6'3' and typically wear a size 44 x-long suit but this size 46 fits not-too-snug across my chest and the sleeves come right into my gauntlets.
the quality and protection is evident.

i bought this because i hate it when visors fog up. i've had pretty decent luck with most pinlock visors, but they're not perfect, so i figured i'd give this thing a shot as it looks a lot more substantial than a simple pinlock.
i wore this to work today, the second time i've had it on, driving down the bronx river parkway into manhattan on my panigale. avg speed was about 60 mph, temp also about 60 degrees, humidity was high but still...
it fogged up. that sucked. i couldn't see well and had to slow down and repeatedly open my visor.
it was like $120

I ordered this helmet because I love my x-12, but I needed an internal sun visor and it comes with a pin lock face shield (why don't all helmets??).
For a 600$ helmet, it seems as high quality as my 900$ x-12! And will look way badder on my monster, multi or vespa ;)
It really looks way better in person than it does in pics or on the video -- sweet!

full disclosure: i did not pay for this suit yet. i am using it for a video and will pay for it after if i decide to keep it. which i will! it is incredible, but the financial pain and bang-for-the-buck truth may rear it's ugly head later.
so it is a tad on the toight side, but that's the deal with race leathers, right? the sleeves and legs weren't unbelievably short, as i have experienced in the past with my alpinestars jacket gp-r jacket and dainese race suits. the other italians make race suits for people with stunted limb growth (to be fair, i have freakishly long extremities, even for a 6'3" man with no muscle tone). in any case, the US 46 fit me like a glove -- except in the booty area, of course, while standing.
the protection is unreal, it even caused me to ride around the local highways like a hooligan, at ridiculous speeds, in the rain. with the chest and back protectors in, you feel indestructible. the tech-air system probably takes that one step further, and i may purchase and add that before hitting the track. i will need to hit the gym before that, though, to fill out the calf and thigh areas of the suit, and so that i can try and grind down the knee sliders a little bit.
suit is mad comfy though, really. will be interesting to see how it holds up in real heat, all day long. i'll check back in after a two-day track session at the end of the month.

The front flex area is constructed with a soft TPU mesh with shaped reliefs for abrasion resistance and natural forward and back movements. Flexible accordion synthetic leather at Achilles allows natural movement. Full length micro-fiber panel on inner side of the boot provides a smooth surface for excellent grip and feel against the bike and protects from abrasion and heat. A lightweight rubber compound sole offers excellent grip and feel and allows for natural flex as the rider changes position and pressure on the foot-peg. Strategically positioned ventilation in heel and shin TPU, and soft TPU mesh on forefoot guides air through the boot. The separate inner boot works with outer boot to form a protective system and external TPU shin protection wraps around to outer calf and is engineered to spread and dissipate impact energy across the entire surface while remaining compact. Clip-on toe-slider provides excellent feedback and protects the outer toe box structure from abrasion. (Upgradeable to a magnesium slider). just got these and could not ride in them because they are huge on my. i have an old pair (seven years old?) of SMX boots that i LOVE in a size 44. they fit well, are comfortable, easy to put on and take off. but they are all black, and i'm really trying to get away from that, so when i needed new boots with more protection for the track i decided to give these a try. what happened? they are at least an inch too long. the little booty in the boot is a pain to put on and take off separately, and they don't feel like they offer a heck of a lot more protection than my old cheapies. plus they don't seem to flow that much air. ouch
