I ordered this helmet because I love my x-12, but I needed an internal sun visor and it comes with a pin lock face shield (why don't all helmets??).
For a 600$ helmet, it seems as high quality as my 900$ x-12! And will look way badder on my monster, multi or vespa ;)
It really looks way better in person than it does in pics or on the video -- sweet!

full disclosure: i did not pay for this suit yet. i am using it for a video and will pay for it after if i decide to keep it. which i will! it is incredible, but the financial pain and bang-for-the-buck truth may rear it's ugly head later.
so it is a tad on the toight side, but that's the deal with race leathers, right? the sleeves and legs weren't unbelievably short, as i have experienced in the past with my alpinestars jacket gp-r jacket and dainese race suits. the other italians make race suits for people with stunted limb growth (to be fair, i have freakishly long extremities, even for a 6'3" man with no muscle tone). in any case, the US 46 fit me like a glove -- except in the booty area, of course, while standing.
the protection is unreal, it even caused me to ride around the local highways like a hooligan, at ridiculous speeds, in the rain. with the chest and back protectors in, you feel indestructible. the tech-air system probably takes that one step further, and i may purchase and add that before hitting the track. i will need to hit the gym before that, though, to fill out the calf and thigh areas of the suit, and so that i can try and grind down the knee sliders a little bit.
suit is mad comfy though, really. will be interesting to see how it holds up in real heat, all day long. i'll check back in after a two-day track session at the end of the month.

Alpinestars Supertech-R Boots The Alpinestars Supertech R boot is the newest high performance/racing boot, constructed with hi-tech micro-fiber and designed to meet light weight and performance requirements in top level racing. The front flex area is constructed with a soft TPU mesh with shaped reliefs for abrasion resistance and natural forward and back movements. Flexible accordion synthetic leather at Achilles allows natural movement. Top gaiter follows leg contour and is made of flexible high-grade synthetic leather reinforced with rubber for maintaining shape. Full length micro-fiber panel on inner side of the boot provides a smooth surface for excellent grip and feel against the bike and protects from abrasion and heat. A lightweight rubber compound sole offers excellent grip and feel and allows for natural flex as the rider changes position and pressure on the foot-peg. Strategically positioned ventilation in heel and shin TPU, and soft TPU mesh on forefoot guides air through the boot. The separate inner boot works with outer boot to form a protective system and external TPU shin protection wraps around to outer calf and is engineered to spread and dissipate impact energy across the entire surface while remaining compact. Clip-on toe-slider provides excellent feedback and protects the outer toe box structure from abrasion. (Upgradeable to a magnesium slider). Replaceable TPU heel plate slider protects from impact and reduces friction in the event of an off. Outside entry/exit has stretch accordion panel for a close fit and ease of entrance and removal. Bio-mechanical ankle bracing boot has double hinged inner and outer torsion bars to progressively absorb flex and rotation stress on the ankle and reduce pressure and hyper extension injury to lower leg joints. Inner ankle brace constructed with fiberglass charged polyamide and ergonomically designed closed cell padding for protection and comfort. Features Extremely protective, flexible and comfortable with excellent aerodynamics Flexible, lightweight toe shifter allows feel for changing gears Zip mounted on accordion stretch panel gives easy closure with excellent fit Velcro tab lock the zip pull closed, keeping it flat and secure Micro adjustable ratchet top closure stows tab end inside calf TPU Polyamide compound moldings around foot bed provide impact protection Removable anatomic footbed is sculpted for precision fit SUPERTECH R is CE certified

just got these and could not ride in them because they are huge on my. i have an old pair (seven years old?) of SMX boots that i LOVE in a size 44. they fit well, are comfortable, easy to put on and take off. but they are all black, and i'm really trying to get away from that, so when i needed new boots with more protection for the track i decided to give these a try. what happened? they are at least an inch too long. the little booty in the boot is a pain to put on and take off separately, and they don't feel like they offer a heck of a lot more protection than my old cheapies. plus they don't seem to flow that much air. ouch

this is obviously a top-quality leather jacket -- great construction, great protection, flows air well for full leather (perf in all the right places) and looks cool as 4377. i got green!
my only complaints are the following:
1. the protection in the shoulders and elbows moves around a little too much when putting the jacket on. not enough to be annoying when riding (yet), but enough to let you know this is not a dainese jacket. why don't they connect these pieces more securely to the jacket? it's something that, frankly, annoys me on most jackets.
2. the arms are cut so short i'm pretty sure the designers at alpinestars are dwarves. i realize race jackets have shorter sleeves than dinner jackets. and yes, i know that gauntlet gloves cover some of the gap. but i had to have three full inches added at the cuff. i do have long arms -- i'm 6'3" -- but i did order a US 46, or an XL. are sport riders typically big in the chest and tiny, little people? that said, all-around fit is way better than dainese.
those two nit-picking complaints aside (because, honestly, all italian companies seem to make stuff for men with shorter arms than me -- maybe i'm the freak?), i am now a total A* convert. got a full GP-Tech suit (that fits better but still will necessitate cuffs at the wrists AND ANKLES) and i'm looking into the track pants. if only they would make talls like rev'it (which makes great stuff but apparently thinks all bikers only wear black leather like harley riders and greenwich village goths).
too much sarcasm?
