Dainese New Drake Air Textile Pants Drake pants will surely interest anyone who loves to ride his or her bike especially in the warmer months without wearing a suit or leather pants in order to obtain the protection required. These previously contrasting needs have now been perfectly reconciled by Drake fabric pants. Ample air vents in fretted fabric with closing on the thighs permit fresh air to enter during riding for cooling relief on even the hottest days. When temperatures begin to drop, the air vents can be closed. Safety is guaranteed by removable composite protections in the knee and shins, while extra-strength Cordura 750 fabric offers protection in case of fall. The elastic inserts in the knee optimize the wearability of the article, which is equally suited to metropolitan motorcycle use. Features Removable composite protectors. Cordura fabric 750. Suretta fabric. Perforated fabric. Insert in elasticated fabric. Soft inserts. Calf zip. Jacket-trousers fastening system. Adjustable waist. Sanitized lining.

When I received these pants I had originally ordered a size 46, I wear a 32 jean and require a belt to not "sag". The pants fit, but were very tight in the legs. I'm 6'1" and 160lbs, so it was not an issue of having over-weight or muscular legs. I actually have rather skinny legs. So, I exchanged them for a 48 and put them on, walked around, and sat on the bike before removing the tags. Everything felt great, with the exception of the shin armor getting stuck on top of my smx-plus boots (maybe they're supposed to go outside the boots?)
I took them out for the first time this weekend and at first they were wonderful. Flowed tons of air to all the right places. About 100 miles in I started to notice extreme bunching behind my knees that was causing undesirable pressure and pain. Luckily the ride was cut short and only lasted another 50 miles. The bunching was a constant bother, and the area behind my knees was sore/red for approximately 24 hours after I got home from the ride.
I LOVE Dainese products, but this has been a poor experience. They were ordered with the super speed textile jacket. I am considering attempting a defect return for a size 50, but am afraid that the waist circumference will be too large. The 48's are sinched down as far as possible with the velcro hip adjusters. They fit just fine this way but the 50's will be too loose when sinched all the way down like this.
The problem is due to the very skinny legs and the tough/protective outer material. Dainese should have put a thinner material behind the knee as it is not an impact area (like they do in more expensive pieces). They look absolutely stunning, with a cut similar to a nice pair of dress slacks. But the material is not conducive to the fashionable cut.
On a side note, they also could have used better hip protection.

These boots really, really exceeded my expectations! I had a pair of bottom shelf (better than Bilt) boots that I never really liked anyway. These are so perfect I just can't believe it. They are stiff, but not too stiff for weekend rides with gas station, and restaurant pit stops. The soles are so sticky that my factory rear sets feel like a nice race bred pair of rear sets with tennis shoes on. I feel like if I went down at 130 I wouldn't have to worry about anything below mid shin.
I wear an 11-12 in regular shoes. I bought a size 45 and they fit perfect. I have really skinny calves and the ratchet strap closure works really, really well for keeping them tight on my legs. I was never a fan of the Velcro upper closures on most bottom shelf boots

Prior to this jacket I had a Joe Rocket perf leather. It was an ok jacket but I frequently got very hot in it. This jacket is unbelievably cooler with the liner in, take the liner out and it's almost like you're riding in a t-shirt. The inner mesh lining is much more comfortable than the joe rocket and the shoulder sliders feel very sturdy. It's a night and day difference between the two. Not to mention it looks incredible. I get lots of compliments.
My only complaint is that for $350 I should have at least gotten a foam pad where the back protector goes. Luckily the foam from my old jacket fit right in with no problems.

Honestly, I was expecting more hard parts. The ankle slider is injection moulded rubber, and the heel surround is soft plastic. However, the construction quality is very good, they do flow air, and every time I hop on the bike to run an errand I choose the SMx-1's over any other shoe I own.
